In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Alif. Lam. Meem.
2. Allah — there is no god except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer.
3. He has sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming what was before it; and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.
4. Previously, as guidance for humankind, and He has sent down the Criterion. Certainly, those who disbelieve in the revelations of Allah — for them is a severe punishment; and Allah is Mighty, Possessor of Retribution.
5. Truly, nothing is hidden from Allah on earth or in the heaven.
6. He is the One Who shapes you in the wombs however He wills. There is no god except Him, the Mighty, the Wise.
7. He is the One Who sent down to you the Book; in it are verses precise — they are the foundation of the Book — and others ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow what is ambiguous from it, seeking discord and seeking its interpretation; and none knows its interpretation except Allah. And those firmly grounded in knowledge say, "We believe in it; all is from our Lord." And none takes heed except those of understanding.
8. "Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself; truly, it is You Who are the Bestower.
9. Our Lord, surely You will gather humankind for a Day about which there is no doubt; truly, Allah does not break the promise."
10. Certainly, those who disbelieve — their wealth and their children will not avail them at all against Allah; and it is they who are fuel for the Fire.
11. Like the way of Pharaoh's people and those before them: they denied Our signs, so Allah seized them for their sins; and Allah is severe in punishment.
12. Say to those who disbelieve, "You will be overcome and gathered to Hell — and wretched is the resting place."
13. There was certainly a sign for you in the two groups that met: one group fighting in the way of Allah, and another disbelieving, seeing them twice their number with their own eyes; and Allah supports with His help whom He wills. Surely, in that is a lesson for those of insight.
14. Beautified for people is the love of desires — of women and children, heaped-up treasures of gold and silver, fine branded horses, livestock, and farmland. That is the enjoyment of worldly life; but with Allah is the best return.
15. Say, "Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those mindful of Allah, with their Lord are Gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein, and purified spouses, and approval from Allah; and Allah is Seeing of the servants.
16. Those who say, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'
17. The patient, the truthful, the obedient, those who spend, and those who seek forgiveness before dawn."
18. Allah bears witness that there is no god except Him — as do the angels and those of knowledge — upholding justice. There is no god except Him, the Almighty, the Wise.
19. Indeed, the religion with Allah is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them, out of rivalry among themselves. Whoever disbelieves in the signs of Allah — then surely, Allah is swift in reckoning.
20. So if they argue with you, say, "I have submitted my face to Allah, and so have those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture and to the unlettered, "Have you submitted?" If they submit, then they are rightly guided; but if they turn away, then upon you is only the conveyance. And Allah is Seeing of the servants.
21. Truly, those who disbelieve in the verses of Allah, and kill the prophets without right, and kill those among the people who command justice — give them tidings of a painful punishment.
22. They are those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter; and for them there will be no helpers.
23. Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, invited to the Book of Allah that it may judge between them? Then a group among them turns away, and they are refusing.
24. That is because they say, "The Fire will not touch us except for a limited number of days"; and they are deluded in their religion by what they used to fabricate.
25. So how will it be when We gather them for a Day about which there is no doubt, and every soul will be repaid in full for what it earned, and they will not be wronged?
26. Say, "O Allah, Owner of sovereignty, You grant sovereignty to whom You will, and You take sovereignty away from whom You will; You honor whom You will, and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is all good; truly, You are powerful over all things.
27. You cause the night to enter into the day, and You cause the day to enter into the night; and You bring forth the living from the dead, and You bring forth the dead from the living; and You provide for whom You will without measure."
28. Let not the believers take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers; and whoever does that has nothing from Allah — unless you guard yourselves against them cautiously. And Allah warns you of Himself; and to Allah is the final return.
29. Say, "Whether you conceal what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows it; and He knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. And Allah is powerful over all things."
30. The Day every soul will find presented whatever good it has done, and whatever evil it has done — it will wish that between itself and that evil were a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself; and Allah is compassionate toward the servants.
31. Say, "If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."
32. Say, "Obey Allah and the Messenger." But if they turn away, then Allah does not love the disbelievers.
33. Truly, Allah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran above all the worlds.
34. Descendants, some of them from others; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.
35. When the wife of Imran said, "My Lord, I have vowed to You what is in my womb, dedicated entirely; so accept it from me. Truly, You are the Hearing, the Knowing."
36. Then when she delivered her, she said, "My Lord, I have delivered a female" — and Allah knew best what she delivered — "and the male is not like the female. I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You, and for her descendants, from Satan, the accursed."
37. So her Lord accepted her with a gracious acceptance, caused her to grow in a goodly manner, and placed her under the care of Zachariah. Whenever Zachariah entered upon her in the sanctuary, he found provision with her. He said, "O Mary, from where is this for you?" She said, "It is from Allah; truly, Allah provides for whom He wills without measure."
38. Thereupon Zachariah called upon his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself goodly offspring; truly, You are the Hearer of supplication."
39. Then the angels called to him while he stood praying in the sanctuary, "Allah gives you glad tidings of John, confirming a Word from Allah, honorable, chaste, and a prophet from among the righteous."
40. He said, "My Lord, how shall I have a boy when old age has overtaken me and my wife is barren?" He said, "Thus does Allah do whatever He wills."
41. He said, "My Lord, appoint for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you shall not speak to the people for three days, except by gestures; and remember your Lord much, and glorify Him in the evening and the morning."
42. And when the angels said, "O Mary, Allah has chosen you and purified you, and chosen you above the women of the worlds."
43. "O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord, and prostrate, and bow with those who bow."
44. That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you; and you were not with them when they cast their pens as to which of them would take charge of Mary, nor were you with them when they disputed.
45. When the angels said, "O Mary, Allah gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary — honored in this world and the Hereafter, and among those brought near."
46. "And he will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity, and will be among the righteous."
47. She said, "My Lord, how can I have a child when no human has touched me?" He said, "Thus does Allah create what He wills; when He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is."
48. And He will teach him the Book and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel.
49. And a messenger to the Children of Israel: "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord — that I create for you from clay the form of a bird, then I breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's permission; and I heal the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead by Allah's permission; and I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Surely in that is a sign for you, if you are believers."
50. "And confirming what was before me of the Torah, and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you; and I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me."
51. "Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him; this is a straight path."
52. But when Jesus sensed disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my helpers toward Allah?" The disciples said, "We are Allah's helpers; we have believed in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims."
53. "Our Lord, we have believed in what You have sent down, and we have followed the messenger; so record us among the witnesses."
54. And they plotted, and Allah plotted; and Allah is the best of plotters.
55. When Allah said, "O Jesus, I will take you and raise you to Myself, and purify you from those who disbelieve, and place those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection; then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ."
56. As for those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter; and they will have no helpers.
57. But as for those who believe and do righteous deeds, He will give them their rewards in full; and Allah does not love the wrongdoers.
58. This We recite to you of the Verses and the Wise Reminder.
59. Truly, the example of Jesus in the sight of Allah is like that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him, "Be," and he was.
60. The truth is from your Lord, so do not be among those who doubt.
61. Then whoever disputes with you concerning him, after the knowledge has come to you, say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves; then let us invoke earnestly and place the curse of Allah upon the liars."
62. Certainly, this is the true narration; and there is no god except Allah; and truly, Allah is the Almighty, the Wise.
63. But if they turn away, then indeed, Allah is Knowing of the corruptors.
64. Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a common word between us and you: that we worship none but Allah, associate nothing with Him, and that none of us takes others as lords besides Allah." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims."
65. O People of the Scripture, why do you argue concerning Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Do you not reason?
66. Here you are — arguing about that of which you have knowledge; so why do you argue about that of which you have no knowledge? Allah knows, and you do not know.
67. Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a monotheist, a Muslim; and he was not of those who associate others with Allah.
68. Surely, the people most worthy of Abraham are those who followed him, and this Prophet, and those who believe; and Allah is the Protector of the believers.
69. A group among the People of the Scripture wishes they could mislead you; but they mislead none except themselves, and they do not perceive.
70. O People of the Scripture, why do you disbelieve in the verses of Allah while you bear witness?
71. O People of the Scripture, why do you confuse the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know?
72. And a group among the People of the Scripture said, "Believe in what was revealed to those who believe at the beginning of the day, and disbelieve at its end, so that they may return.
73. And do not believe except those who follow your religion." Say, "Indeed, the true guidance is the guidance of Allah — lest someone be given the like of what you were given, or they argue against you before your Lord." Say, "Indeed, bounty is in the Hand of Allah; He grants it to whom He wills, and Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing."
74. He selects for His mercy whom He wills; and Allah is the Possessor of great bounty.
75. And among the People of the Book is he who, if you entrust him with a great amount, will return it to you; and among them is he who, if you entrust him with a single coin, will not return it to you, unless you constantly stand over him. That is because they say, "There is no blame upon us concerning the unlettered people," and they speak lies about Allah knowingly.
76. Rather, whoever fulfills his covenant and is mindful of Allah — then surely Allah loves those who are mindful of Him.
77. Truly, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price — those will have no share in the Hereafter; and Allah will neither speak to them nor look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and for them is a painful punishment.
78. And indeed, among them is a group who twist their tongues with the Scripture, so that you may think it is from the Scripture, though it is not from the Scripture; and they say, "It is from Allah," though it is not from Allah; and they speak lies about Allah knowingly.
79. It is not for any human being to whom Allah has given the Scripture, wisdom, and prophethood to then say to the people, "Be worshipers of me rather than Allah," but rather, "Be devoted servants of the Lord, because of what you have been teaching of the Scripture, and because of what you have been studying."
80. Nor would he command you to take the angels and the prophets as lords. Would he command you to disbelief after you have submitted?
81. And when Allah took the covenant of the prophets, "Whatever I have given you of Scripture and wisdom — then there comes to you a messenger confirming what is with you — you must surely believe in him and support him." He said, "Do you affirm and accept My covenant upon this?" They said, "We affirm." He said, "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."
82. Then whoever turns away after that — those are the defiantly disobedient.
83. So is it other than the religion of Allah they seek, while to Him has submitted whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned?
84. Say, "We believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to us, and in what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in what was given to Moses, Jesus, and the Prophets from their Lord; we make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit."
85. And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him; and in the Hereafter, he will be among the losers.
86. How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief, having borne witness that the Messenger is true, and clear proofs had come to them? Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
87. Those — their recompense is that upon them is the curse of Allah, and of the angels, and of all humankind.
88. Abiding therein eternally; neither will the punishment be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
89. Except for those who repent after that and reform; for Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
90. Surely, those who disbelieved after their belief, then increased in disbelief — their repentance will never be accepted; and it is they who are astray.
91. Surely, those who disbelieved and died while they were disbelievers — even if one of them were to offer an earth full of gold as ransom, it would never be accepted from him; for them is a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers.
92. You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love; and whatever you spend of anything, Allah is Knowing of it.
93. All food was lawful to the Children of Israel, except what Israel forbade upon himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, "Bring the Torah and recite it, if you are truthful."
94. So whoever fabricates lies against Allah after that — it is they who are the wrongdoers.
95. Say, "Allah has spoken the truth; so follow the creed of Abraham, inclining toward truth — and he was not of those who associate others with Allah."
96. Certainly, the first House established for humankind is the one at Bakkah — blessed and a guidance for all worlds.
97. In it are clear signs: the standing place of Abraham; and whoever enters it is secure. And pilgrimage to the House is a duty owed to Allah by humankind — for whoever is able to find a way to it. But whoever disbelieves, then surely Allah is free of need from all worlds.
98. Say, "O People of the Scripture, why do you disbelieve in the verses of Allah, while Allah is Witness over what you do?"
99. Say, "O People of the Scripture, why do you hinder from the way of Allah those who believe, seeking to make it crooked, while you are witnesses? And Allah is not unaware of what you do."
100. O you who believe, if you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture, they will turn you back, after your belief, into disbelievers.
101. And how could you disbelieve while the verses of Allah are recited to you, and among you is His Messenger? And whoever holds firmly to Allah has surely been guided to a straight path.
102. O you who believe, fear Allah with the fear due to Him, and do not die except while you are Muslims.
103. And hold firmly, all together, to the rope of Allah, and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you — when you were enemies, then He united your hearts, so by His favor you became brothers; and you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses, so that you may be guided.
104. And let there be among you a community inviting to good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong; and it is they who are the successful.
105. And do not be like those who became divided and differed after clear proofs had come to them; and for them is a great punishment.
106. On the Day when faces will become white and faces will become black. As for those whose faces become black: "Did you disbelieve after your belief? Then taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieve."
107. But as for those whose faces become white, they will be within the mercy of Allah; therein they will abide forever.
108. These are the verses of Allah; We recite them to you in truth. And Allah does not desire injustice for the worlds.
109. And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth; and to Allah all matters are returned.
110. You are the best community brought forth for humankind: you enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in Allah. Had the People of the Scripture believed, it would have been better for them; among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.
111. They will not harm you except for slight annoyance; and if they fight you, they will turn their backs to you, then they will not be helped.
112. Humiliation has been struck upon them wherever they are found, except by a rope from Allah and a rope from the people; and they have incurred wrath from Allah, and misery has been struck upon them. That is because they used to disbelieve in the verses of Allah and kill the prophets without right; that is because they disobeyed and habitually transgressed.
113. They are not all alike; among the People of the Scripture is an upright community: they recite the verses of Allah during periods of the night, and they prostrate.
114. They believe in Allah and the Last Day, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and hasten to good deeds; and those are among the righteous.
115. Whatever good they do, they will never be denied it; and Allah is Knowing of those mindful of Him.
116. Indeed, those who disbelieve — neither their wealth nor their children will avail them at all against Allah; and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
117. The example of what they spend in this worldly life is like that of a wind containing frost, which strikes the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves, destroying it. Allah has not wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
118. O you who believe, do not take as intimates those other than yourselves; they spare no effort to ruin you. They wish you hardship; hatred has already appeared from their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater. We have certainly made clear to you the verses, if you use reason.
119. Here you are, loving them, but they do not love you; and you believe in the Scripture entirely. When they meet you, they say, "We believe," but when they are alone, they bite their fingertips at you in rage. Say, "Die in your rage." Indeed, Allah is Knowing of what is within the breasts.
120. If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. Yet if you are patient and mindful of Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah encompasses all that they do.
121. And when you left your family early in the morning to position the believers at their stations for battle; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.
122. When two groups among you intended to lose heart, but Allah was their Protector; and upon Allah let the believers rely.
123. Certainly, Allah helped you at Badr while you were weak; so fear Allah, that you may be grateful.
124. When you said to the believers, "Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down?"
125. Yes; if you remain patient and mindful of Allah, and they come upon you at once, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand marked angels.
126. And Allah made it only as good news for you, and so that your hearts might be reassured by it; and victory is only from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise.
127. That He might cut off a side of those who disbelieved, or suppress them, so that they turn back disappointed.
128. Not for you is any part of the matter — whether He accepts their repentance or punishes them — for indeed, they are wrongdoers.
129. And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth; He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
130. O you who believe, do not consume usury, multiplied manifold; and fear Allah, that you may succeed.
131. And fear the Fire that has been prepared for the disbelievers.
132. And obey Allah and the Messenger, that you may receive mercy.
133. And hasten toward forgiveness from your Lord, and Paradise whose breadth is the heavens and the earth, prepared for the Allah-conscious.
134. Those who spend in prosperity and adversity, who restrain anger and pardon people; and Allah loves those who do good.
135. And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins — and who forgives sins except Allah? — and do not persist in what they have done while they know.
136. Those — their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein eternally. And excellent is the reward of those who do.
137. Certainly, ways have passed before you; so travel through the earth and observe how was the end of those who denied.
138. This is a clarification for the people, and guidance and admonition for the mindful of Allah.
139. And do not weaken nor grieve; and you will be superior, if you are believers.
140. If a wound touches you, certainly a similar wound has touched the people; and these days We alternate among the people, so that Allah may know those who believe, and take from among you martyrs. And Allah does not love the wrongdoers.
141. And so that Allah may purify those who believe and eliminate the disbelievers.
142. Or did you think that you would enter Paradise while Allah has not yet known those among you who strive, nor known those who are patient?
143. And certainly you used to wish for death before you met it; now you have seen it while you were looking on.
144. Muhammad is but a messenger; messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you turn back on your heels? Whoever turns back on his heels will not harm Allah in the least; and Allah will reward the grateful.
145. No soul can die except by Allah's permission, at a prescribed term. Whoever desires the reward of this world, We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will give him thereof. And We will reward the grateful.
146. How many a prophet alongside whom fought many devoted servants of Allah; they neither lost heart for what befell them in the way of Allah, nor weakened, nor submitted. And Allah loves those who are patient.
147. Their words were only that they said, "Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excesses in our affairs, make firm our feet, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people."
148. So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter; and Allah loves those who do good.
149. O you who believe, if you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will then become losers.
150. Rather, Allah is your Protector; and He is the best of helpers.
151. We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they associate with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority; their refuge is the Fire — and wretched is the abode of the wrongdoers.
152. Allah had certainly fulfilled His promise to you when you were defeating them by His permission; until you lost courage, disputed about the command, and disobeyed after He had shown you what you love. Among you are those who desire this world, and among you are those who desire the Hereafter. Then He turned you away from them to test you; yet He has pardoned you — and Allah is full of favor toward the believers.
153. When you were ascending without looking back at anyone, while the Messenger was calling you from behind, He repaid you with distress upon distress, so that you would not grieve over what escaped you nor over what befell you. And Allah is fully aware of what you do.
154. Then, after the distress, He sent down upon you security — a drowsiness overcoming a group among you; while another group was anxious only about themselves, thinking of Allah other than the truth — the thoughts of ignorance — saying, "Do we have any say in the matter?" Say, "The matter belongs entirely to Allah." They conceal within themselves what they do not reveal to you, saying, "If we had any say in the matter, we would not have been killed here." Say, "Even if you had been in your homes, those decreed to be killed would have come forth to their places of death." And it was so that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purify what is in your hearts; and Allah is Knowing of what is within the breasts.
155. Those among you who turned away on the day the two hosts met — Satan caused them to slip due to some of what they had earned; yet Allah has pardoned them. Truly, Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing.
156. O you who believe, do not be like those who disbelieved and said of their brothers when they traveled on earth or went forth to battle, "Had they been with us, they would not have died nor been killed," so that Allah may make that a regret in their hearts. And Allah gives life and causes death; and Allah sees all that you do.
157. And if you are killed in the way of Allah or die, certainly forgiveness from Allah and mercy are better than what they accumulate.
158. And if you die or are killed, surely to Allah you shall be gathered.
159. So by mercy from Allah, you were gentle with them; had you been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from around you. So pardon them, ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the matter; then when you have resolved, rely upon Allah. Truly, Allah loves those who rely upon Him.
160. If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; but if He forsakes you, who then can help you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers rely.
161. It is not for a prophet to act dishonestly; whoever acts dishonestly will bring forth what he took dishonestly on the Day of Resurrection. Then every soul shall be repaid fully for what it earned, and they will not be wronged.
162. Is one who pursues Allah's pleasure like one who incurs wrath from Allah, whose refuge is Hellfire? And wretched is the destination.
163. They are of varying degrees with Allah; and Allah sees all that they do.
164. Certainly, Allah has bestowed favor upon the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, though before that they had surely been in manifest error.
165. And when a calamity befell you — though you had inflicted twice as much — you said, "From where is this?" Say, "It is from yourselves." Truly, Allah is powerful over all things.
166. And what befell you on the day the two hosts met was by Allah's permission, so that He might make evident the believers.
167. And that He might make evident those who acted hypocritically. And it was said to them, "Come, fight in the way of Allah or defend." They said, "If we knew fighting, we would have followed you." They were nearer to disbelief that day than to belief, saying with their mouths what was not in their hearts. And Allah knows best what they conceal.
168. Those who said of their brothers, while they themselves sat back, "Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed." Say, "Then avert death from yourselves, if you are truthful."
169. And do not think of those who were killed in the way of Allah as dead; rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.
170. Rejoicing in what Allah has given them of His bounty, and receiving glad tidings about those who have not yet joined them from behind them — that no fear shall be upon them, nor shall they grieve.
171. They receive glad tidings of favor from Allah and bounty, and that Allah does not let the reward of the believers go to waste.
172. Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger after injury had struck them; for those among them who did good and were mindful of Allah is a great reward.
173. Those to whom the people said, "The people have gathered against you, so fear them," but it increased them in faith, and they said, "Allah is sufficient for us, and excellent is the Guardian."
174. So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty; no harm touched them, and they pursued the pleasure of Allah — and Allah is Possessor of great bounty.
175. It is only Satan who frightens his allies; so do not fear them, but fear Me, if you are believers.
176. And do not let those who hasten into disbelief grieve you; surely, they will not harm Allah at all. Allah intends not to grant them any share in the Hereafter, and for them is a great punishment.
177. Surely, those who have purchased disbelief at the price of faith will not harm Allah at all, and for them is a painful punishment.
178. And let not those who disbelieve think that Our granting them respite is good for themselves; We only grant them respite so that they may increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment.
179. Allah would not leave the believers in the state you are in until He separates the evil from the good. Nor would Allah reveal to you the unseen; but Allah chooses from His messengers whom He wills. So believe in Allah and His messengers; and if you believe and are mindful of Allah, then for you is a great reward.
180. And let not those who withhold what Allah has given them of His bounty think it is good for them; rather, it is evil for them. They will be encircled by what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection. And to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is fully aware of what you do.
181. Certainly, Allah has heard the saying of those who said, "Allah is poor, and we are rich." We shall record what they said, and their killing of the prophets without right, and We shall say, "Taste the punishment of the burning."
182. That is for what your own hands have sent forth, and because Allah is not unjust to the servants.
183. Those who said, "Allah has taken a promise from us that we should not believe in any messenger until he brings us an offering consumed by fire." Say, "Messengers before me came to you with clear proofs and with what you mentioned; why then did you kill them, if you are truthful?"
184. But if they deny you, messengers before you were also denied, who came with clear proofs, scriptures, and the illuminating Book.
185. Every soul shall taste death, and you will only be paid your wages in full on the Day of Resurrection. So whoever is drawn away from the Fire and admitted into Paradise has surely succeeded; and the life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion.
186. You will surely be tested in your wealth and yourselves, and you will surely hear much harm from those who were given the Scripture before you, and from those who associate others with Allah. But if you are patient and mindful of Allah, indeed, that is among matters of firm resolve.
187. And when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, "You shall surely make it clear to the people and not conceal it," they cast it behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price; how evil is what they purchase.
188. Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have done, and love to be praised for what they have not done — do not think them safe from punishment; for them is a painful punishment.
189. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is powerful over all things.
190. Certainly, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, are signs for those of understanding.
191. Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: "Our Lord, You have not created this in vain; glory be to You; protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
192. Our Lord, surely whoever You admit into the Fire, You have indeed disgraced him; and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.
193. Our Lord, we have heard a caller calling to faith: 'Believe in your Lord,' so we have believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins, remove from us our misdeeds, and cause us to die among the righteous.
194. Our Lord, grant us what You have promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection; surely You do not break the promise."
195. So their Lord responded to them: "I will not let the deeds of any worker among you, male or female, be lost; you are of one another. So those who emigrated, and were expelled from their homes, and were harmed in My way, and fought and were killed — I will surely remove from them their misdeeds, and I will surely admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, as a reward from Allah; and Allah — with Him is the best reward."
196. Do not let the movement of those who disbelieve throughout the land deceive you.
197. A brief enjoyment; then their refuge is Hell — and wretched is the resting place.
198. But those who are mindful of their Lord — for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever, as hospitality from Allah; and what is with Allah is best for the righteous.
199. And indeed, among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed to them, humbly submissive to Allah; they do not exchange the verses of Allah for a small price. Those will have their reward with their Lord; surely Allah is swift in reckoning.
200. O you who believe, be patient, and endure, and remain steadfast, and be mindful of Allah, so that you may succeed.
