In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Alif. Lam. Meem.

2. Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe," and they will not be tested?

3. Certainly, We tested those before them; and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.

4. Or do those who commit evil deeds think they can outrun Us? Evil is what they judge.

5. Whoever hopes for the meeting with Allah — Allah's appointed term is surely coming; and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

6. And whoever strives, he strives only for himself; indeed, Allah is free of need from the worlds.

7. And those who believe and do righteous deeds — We will surely remove from them their evil deeds, and We will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do.

8. And We have enjoined upon the human being goodness to his parents; but if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, then do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you of what you used to do.

9. And those who believe and do righteous deeds — We will surely admit them among the righteous.

10. And among the people is he who says, "We believe in Allah," but when he is harmed in the cause of Allah, he considers the trial of the people as the punishment of Allah; yet if victory comes from your Lord, they will surely say, "Indeed, we were with you." Does not Allah know best what is within the breasts of all the worlds?

11. And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites.

12. And those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Follow our way, and we will bear your sins." But they will not bear anything of their sins; indeed, they are liars.

13. And they will surely bear their own burdens, and burdens along with their burdens; and they will surely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about what they used to fabricate.

14. Certainly, We sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years; then the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.

15. So We saved him and the companions of the ship, and We made it a sign for all the worlds.

16. And Abraham, when he said to his people, "Worship Allah and fear Him; that is better for you, if you only knew.

17. You worship only idols besides Allah, and you invent falsehood. Truly, those whom you worship besides Allah possess no provision for you; so seek provision from Allah, and worship Him, and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned."

18. And if you deny, then certainly nations before you denied; and nothing is incumbent upon the Messenger except clear conveyance.

19. Have they not seen how Allah originates creation, then repeats it? Surely, that is easy for Allah.

20. Say, "Travel in the earth and observe how He began creation; then Allah will produce the final creation. Surely, Allah is powerful over all things."

21. He punishes whom He wills and has mercy upon whom He wills; and to Him you will be returned.

22. And you cannot escape on earth nor in the heaven; and you have, besides Allah, neither protector nor helper.

23. And those who disbelieve in the signs of Allah and the meeting with Him — those have despaired of My mercy, and for those there is a painful punishment.

24. But the answer of his people was only that they said, "Kill him or burn him." Then Allah saved him from the fire. Surely, in that are signs for a people who believe.

25. And he said, "You have taken idols besides Allah only as bonds of affection among yourselves in the life of this world; then on the Day of Resurrection you will deny one another and curse one another, and your refuge will be the Fire, and you will have no helpers."

26. Then Lot believed him and said, "Truly, I am emigrating to my Lord; surely, He is the Almighty, the Wise."

27. And We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and placed among his descendants prophethood and the Scripture; and We gave him his reward in this world, and surely, in the Hereafter he is among the righteous.

28. And Lot, when he said to his people, "Truly, you commit indecency such as no one among the worlds has preceded you in.

29. Do you approach men, and cut off the road, and commit evil deeds in your gatherings?" But the answer of his people was only that they said, "Bring upon us the punishment of Allah, if you are among the truthful."

30. He said, "My Lord, support me against the corruptors."

31. And when Our messengers came to Abraham with glad tidings, they said, "We shall surely destroy the people of this town; indeed, its people have been wrongdoers."

32. He said, "But Lot is in it." They said, "We know best who is in it; we shall surely save him and his family, except his wife — she is among those who remain behind."

33. And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was distressed by them and felt constrained on their account; but they said, "Do not fear, nor grieve; we shall surely save you and your family, except your wife — she is among those who remain behind."

34. "We shall surely bring down upon the people of this town a punishment from the sky, because they have been defiantly disobedient."

35. And certainly We have left from it a clear sign for a people who understand.

36. And to Midian, their brother Shuayb; he said, "O my people, worship Allah, and hope for the Last Day, and do not act wickedly on earth as corruptors."

37. But they denied him; so the earthquake seized them, and they lay lifeless in their homes.

38. And Aad and Thamud — it has become clear to you from their dwellings; Satan beautified their deeds for them, thus turning them away from the path, though they were endowed with insight.

39. And Qarun, Pharaoh, and Haman; certainly Moses came to them with clear proofs, but they behaved arrogantly on earth, yet they could not escape.

40. So each We seized for his sin: among them were those upon whom We sent a storm of stones; and among them were those whom the blast seized; and among them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow; and among them were those whom We drowned. Allah would not wrong them, but they wronged themselves.

41. The likeness of those who take protectors other than Allah is like the spider that takes a house; and surely, the frailest of houses is the spider's house — if only they knew.

42. Certainly, Allah knows whatever thing they call upon besides Him; and He is the Almighty, the Wise.

43. And these examples We set forth for the people; but none understand them except those who have knowledge.

44. Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth; in that is surely a sign for the believers.

45. Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book, and establish prayer; indeed, prayer restrains from immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater; and Allah knows what you do.

46. And do not argue with the People of the Book except in the best manner — except those among them who commit injustice — and say, "We believe in what was revealed to us and revealed to you; and our God and your God is One, and to Him we submit."

47. And thus We have sent down to you the Book; so those to whom We gave the Scripture believe in it, and among these are those who believe in it; and none reject Our verses except the disbelievers.

48. And you did not recite before it any scripture, nor did you inscribe it with your right hand; otherwise, the falsifiers would have doubted.

49. Rather, it is clear verses in the hearts of those given knowledge; and none reject Our verses except the wrongdoers.

50. And they say, "Why have miracles not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Miracles are only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner."

51. Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book, recited to them? Indeed, in that is mercy and a reminder for a people who believe.

52. Say, "Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you; He knows whatever is in the heavens and the earth; and those who believe in falsehood and disbelieve in Allah — it is they who are the losers."

53. And they urge you to hasten the punishment; and were it not for an appointed term, the punishment would surely have come to them; and it will certainly come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not.

54. They urge you to hasten the punishment; and indeed, Hellfire will surely encompass the disbelievers.

55. On the Day when the punishment will cover them from above them and from beneath their feet, and He will say, "Taste what you used to do."

56. O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship Me alone.

57. Every soul will taste death; then to Us you will be returned.

58. And those who believe and do righteous deeds — We will surely settle them in chambers in Paradise, beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein eternally; excellent is the reward of those who act.

59. Those who are patient and upon their Lord rely.

60. And how many a creature carries not its own provision — Allah provides for it and for you; and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

61. And if you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon?" they will surely say, "Allah." Then how are they deluded?

62. Allah extends provision for whom He wills among His servants and restricts it for him; indeed, Allah is, of all things, Knowing.

63. And if you ask them, "Who sends down water from the sky and thereby revives the earth after its death?" they will surely say, "Allah." Say, "Praise be to Allah." But most of them do not reason.

64. And this worldly life is nothing but amusement and play; and surely, the abode of the Hereafter — that is the true life, if only they knew.

65. And when they board a ship, they call upon Allah, sincere to Him in religion; but when He delivers them safely to land, behold, they associate others with Him.

66. That they may deny what We have given them and enjoy themselves; but they will soon know.

67. Have they not seen that We have made a secure sanctuary, while people are snatched away from around them? Then do they believe in falsehood and deny the favor of Allah?

68. And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or denies the truth when it comes to him? Is there not in Hell a dwelling place for the disbelievers?

69. And those who strive for Us — We will surely guide them to Our ways; and indeed, Allah is with those who do good.
