In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Ta. Seen. Meem.
2. These are the Verses of the clear Book.
3. We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth, for a people who believe.
4. Pharaoh exalted himself in the land, and He divided its people into factions — oppressing a group among them, slaughtering their sons and sparing their women; certainly, he was among the corruptors.
5. And We desired to bestow favor upon those who were oppressed in the land, and to make them leaders, and to make them the inheritors.
6. And to establish them firmly in the land, and to show Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers through them that which they had feared.
7. And We inspired the mother of Moses: "Nurse him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river, and do not fear nor grieve. Surely, We will return him to you, and We will make him among the messengers."
8. Then the family of Pharaoh picked him up, so that he would become to them an enemy and a source of grief; indeed, Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were sinners.
9. And the wife of Pharaoh said, "A comfort of the eye for me and for you; do not kill him. Perhaps he may benefit us, or we may take him as a son," while they perceived not.
10. And the heart of Moses' mother became empty; she was about to disclose him, had We not strengthened her heart so that she would be among the believers.
11. And she said to his sister, "Follow him." So she watched him from a distance, while they perceived not.
12. And We had forbidden for him wet nurses before; so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household who will care for him for you, and they will be sincere to him?"
13. Thus We returned him to his mother, so that her eye might be comforted and she would not grieve, and so that she would know that the promise of Allah is true; but most of them do not know.
14. And when he reached his full strength and maturity, We granted him judgment and knowledge; thus do We reward those who do good.
15. And he entered the city at a time of inattention among its people, and found therein two men fighting — one from his faction and the other from his enemy. Then the one from his faction called upon him for help against the one from his enemy; so Moses struck him and finished him off. He said, "This is from the work of Satan; surely, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."
16. He said, "My Lord, surely I have wronged myself, so forgive me." So He forgave him; surely, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
17. He said, "My Lord, because of the favor You have bestowed upon me, I will never be a supporter of the criminals."
18. So he became fearful in the city, watchful. Then suddenly, the one who had sought his help the day before cried out to him again. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are clearly misguided."
19. And when he intended to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed a person yesterday? You only wish to be a tyrant on earth, and you do not wish to be among the reformers."
20. And a man came running from the farthest end of the city; he said, "O Moses, surely the notables are conspiring to kill you, so leave; indeed, I am to you among the sincere advisors."
21. So he left it, fearful and watchful; he said, "My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people."
22. And when he turned his face toward Midian, he said, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the right way."
23. And when he arrived at the waters of Midian, he found there a group of people watering their flocks, and he found aside from them two women holding back their flock. He said, "What is your matter?" They said, "We cannot water until the shepherds depart, and our father is a very old man."
24. So he watered their flock for them; then he withdrew to the shade and said, "My Lord, certainly I am in need of whatever good You send down to me."
25. Then one of the two women came to him, walking with shyness; she said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him and related to him the story, he said, "Do not fear; you have escaped from the wrongdoing people."
26. One of the two women said, "O my father, hire him; surely, the best one you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy."
27. He said, "I wish to marry you to one of these two daughters of mine, provided you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be from you. And I do not wish to make things difficult for you; you will find me, if Allah wills, among the righteous."
28. He said, "That is between me and you; whichever of the two terms I fulfill, there shall be no aggression upon me. And Allah is Witness over what we say."
29. Then when Moses had fulfilled the term and journeyed with his family, he perceived from the side of the mountain a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here; I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I will bring you news from it, or a burning ember from the fire, that you may warm yourselves."
30. Then when he came to it, he was called from the right side of the valley, in the blessed spot, from the tree: "O Moses, truly I am Allah, Lord of the worlds."
31. "And cast down your staff." Then when he saw it moving, as if it were a swift serpent, he turned away fleeing and did not look back. "O Moses, come forward and do not fear; surely you are among those who are secure."
32. "Insert your hand into your garment; it will come forth white without harm. And draw your arm close to yourself from fear. These are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs; indeed, they have been a defiantly disobedient people."
33. He said, "My Lord, I have killed a person among them, and I fear that they will kill me."
34. "And my brother Aaron is more eloquent than I in speech; so send him with me as a helper to confirm me. Truly, I fear that they will deny me."
35. He said, "We shall strengthen your arm through your brother, and We shall grant you both authority, so they will not reach you. By Our signs, you and those who follow you will be the victors."
36. Then when Moses came to them with Our clear signs, they said, "This is nothing but fabricated magic, and we have not heard of this among our forefathers."
37. And Moses said, "My Lord knows best who has come with guidance from Him, and to whom belongs the final abode. Surely, the wrongdoers will not succeed."
38. And Pharaoh said, "O chiefs, I know of no god for you other than myself. So kindle for me, O Haman, upon the clay, and build for me a tower, that I may look upon the God of Moses; and certainly, I think him to be among the liars."
39. And he and his soldiers behaved arrogantly on earth without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.
40. So We seized him and his soldiers, and We cast them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wrongdoers.
41. And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire; and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.
42. And We caused a curse to follow them in this world; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among the despised.
43. Certainly, We gave Moses the Scripture, after We had destroyed the earlier generations, as insights for humankind, and guidance and mercy, that they might remember.
44. And you were not on the western side when We decreed the command to Moses, nor were you among the witnesses.
45. But We brought forth generations, and their lifespans grew long; and you were not dwelling among the people of Midian, reciting to them Our verses — but We were the Senders.
46. And you were not at the side of the Mount when We called out; but as a mercy from your Lord, that you may warn a people to whom no warner had come before you, that they might remember.
47. If it were not that, when a calamity strikes them for what their hands have sent forth, they would say, "Our Lord, if only You had sent us a messenger, we would have followed Your verses and been among the believers."
48. But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given the like of what was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in what was given to Moses before? They said, "Two magics that backed one another," and they said, "Surely, we disbelieve in both."
49. Say, "Then bring forth a scripture from Allah that is more guiding than these two, that I may follow it, if you are truthful."
50. But if they do not respond to you, then know that they only follow their desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah? Certainly, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
51. And certainly, We have conveyed to them the Word, that they might remember.
52. Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it — they believe in it.
53. And when it is recited to them, they say, "We believe in it; certainly, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed, we were, even before it, submitting."
54. Those will be given their reward twice for their patience; and they repel evil with good, and from what We have provided them, they spend.
55. And when they hear vain speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace be upon you; we do not desire the ignorant."
56. Indeed, you do not guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills; and He is most knowing of those who are guided.
57. And they say, "If we follow the guidance with you, we will be driven out from our land." Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary, to which are brought fruits of all kinds as provision from Us? But most of them do not know.
58. And how many a town have We destroyed that exulted in its livelihood! And those are their dwellings, scarcely inhabited after them; and it is We Who were the inheritors.
59. And your Lord would not destroy the towns until He had sent to their mother-city a messenger reciting to them Our verses; and We would not destroy the towns except while their people were wrongdoers.
60. And whatever thing you have been given — it is but enjoyment of the worldly life and its adornment; and what is with Allah is better and more lasting. Will you not then reason?
61. Is one to whom We have promised a good promise — which he will surely meet — like one whom We have granted enjoyment of the life of this world, then on the Day of Resurrection he will be among those brought forth?
62. And on the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My partners whom you used to claim?"
63. Those upon whom the word has come true will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones whom we led astray; we led them astray as we ourselves went astray. We declare our innocence before You; it was not us they worshiped."
64. And it will be said, "Call upon your partners." So they will call upon them, but they will not respond to them; and they will see the punishment — if only they had been guided!
65. And on the Day He will call them and say, "What answer did you give to the messengers?"
66. But the news will be obscured to them on that Day, so they will not question one another.
67. But as for one who repents, believes, and does righteous deeds, perhaps he will be among the successful.
68. And your Lord creates whatever He wills and chooses; they have no choice. Glory be to Allah, and exalted is He above what they associate.
69. And your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare.
70. And He is Allah; there is no god except Him. To Him belongs all praise in the first and the last; and His is the judgment, and to Him you will be returned.
71. Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make the night perpetual over you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than Allah could bring you light? Will you not then listen?"
72. Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make the day perpetual over you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than Allah could bring you night in which you rest? Will you not then see?"
73. And out of His mercy He has made for you the night and the day, that you may rest in it and seek of His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful.
74. And on the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My partners whom you used to claim?"
75. And We will draw forth from every nation a witness, and say, "Bring your proof." Then they will know that the truth belongs to Allah, and lost from them will be what they used to invent.
76. Certainly, Qarun was from the people of Moses, but he oppressed them; and We gave him such treasures that their keys would burden a band of strong men. When his people said to him, "Do not exult; surely Allah does not love the exultant.
77. But seek, through what Allah has given you, the Home of the Hereafter; and do not forget your share of this world. And do good, as Allah has done good to you; and do not seek corruption on earth — surely Allah does not love the corruptors."
78. He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I possess." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him generations who were stronger than he and greater in accumulation? And the criminals will not even be asked about their sins.
79. So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Would that we had the like of what Qarun has been given; surely he is of great fortune."
80. But those who had been given knowledge said, "Woe to you! Allah's reward is better for one who believes and does righteous deeds; and none attains it except the patient."
81. Then We caused the earth to swallow him and his dwelling; and there was for him no company to help him besides Allah, nor was he of those who could defend themselves.
82. And those who had wished for his position the day before began to say, "Alas! It is Allah Who extends provision to whom He wills of His servants, and restricts it. Had Allah not favored us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Ah, indeed those who deny will not succeed."
83. That Home of the Hereafter — We assign it to those who desire neither exaltation on earth nor corruption; and the final outcome is for the pious.
84. Whoever comes with a good deed will have better than it; and whoever comes with an evil deed — those who commit evil deeds will not be recompensed except for what they used to do.
85. Surely, He Who ordained upon you the Quran will return you to a place of return. Say, "My Lord knows best who brings guidance, and who is in clear error."
86. And you did not expect that the Book would be revealed to you, but it is a mercy from your Lord; so never be a supporter of the disbelievers.
87. And let them not divert you from the verses of Allah after they have been revealed to you; and invite to your Lord, and never be among those who associate others with Allah.
88. And do not invoke with Allah another god; there is no god except Him. Everything will perish except His Countenance. To Him belongs judgment, and to Him you will be returned.
