In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Certainly, the believers have succeeded.

2. Those who, in their prayer, are humbly submissive.

3. And those who turn away from idle speech.

4. And those who actively give charity.

5. And those who guard their chastity.

6. Except with their spouses or those whom their right hands possess, for then they are free from blame.

7. But whoever seeks beyond that — then those are the transgressors.

8. And those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants.

9. And those who carefully maintain their prayers.

10. Those are the inheritors.

11. Who will inherit Paradise; they will abide in it forever.

12. And certainly, We created the human being from an extract of clay.

13. Then We placed him as a drop in a secure resting place.

14. Then We created the drop into a clinging clot, then We created the clot into a lump of flesh, then We created from the lump bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation; so blessed is Allah, the Best of creators.

15. Then indeed, after that you will die.

16. Then surely, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be raised.

17. And certainly, We created above you seven pathways, and We have never been unaware of creation.

18. And We sent down water from the sky in due measure, and settled it in the earth; and surely, We are able to take it away.

19. Then by means of it, We produced for you gardens of palm trees and grapevines; for you therein are abundant fruits, and from them you eat.

20. And a tree issuing forth from Mount Sinai, producing oil and a relish for those who eat.

21. And surely, for you in livestock is a lesson: We give you drink from what is in their bellies, and for you in them are many benefits, and from them you eat.

22. And upon them and upon ships you are carried.

23. Certainly, We sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. Will you not then be mindful of Him?"

24. But the leaders among his people who disbelieved said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, who desires to gain superiority over you. Had Allah willed, He would have surely sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers of old."

25. "He is nothing but a man possessed by madness; so wait concerning him for a time."

26. He said, "My Lord, help me, for they have denied me."

27. So We inspired him: "Construct the ship under Our eyes and Our inspiration; then, when Our command comes and the furnace overflows, take aboard it two of every kind, and your family — except those against whom the decree has already been pronounced. And do not address Me concerning those who have done wrong; indeed, they shall be drowned."

28. Then, when you and those with you have boarded the ship, say, "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the wrongdoing people."

29. And say, "My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing-place, for You are the best of those who bring to land."

30. Truly, in that are signs; and indeed, We are ever testing.

31. Then, after them, We brought forth another generation.

32. And We sent among them a messenger from themselves, saying, "Worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. Will you not then be mindful of Him?"

33. But the leaders among his people who disbelieved, denied the meeting of the Hereafter, We had indulged them in the worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink."

34. "And if you obey a human being like yourselves, then, you will surely be losers."

35. "Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones, you will be brought forth?"

36. "Far-fetched, far-fetched is what you are promised!"

37. "There is nothing but our worldly life; we die and we live, and we will not be resurrected."

38. "He is nothing but a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we will not believe in him."

39. He said, "My Lord, help me, for they have denied me."

40. He said, "In a little while, they will surely become regretful."

41. Then the blast seized them in truth, and We made them as debris; so away with the wrongdoing people.

42. Then, after them, We brought forth other generations.

43. No nation can advance its appointed term, nor can they delay it.

44. Then We sent Our messengers in succession; every time a messenger came to a nation, they denied him. So We caused them to follow one another, and We made them mere tales; so away with a people who do not believe.

45. Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority.

46. To Pharaoh and his chiefs; but they behaved arrogantly, and they were a haughty people.

47. They said, "Shall we believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are servants to us?"

48. So they denied them, and thus became among those destroyed.

49. And certainly, We gave Moses the Scripture, that they might be guided.

50. And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and We sheltered them upon a high ground with stability and a flowing spring.

51. O messengers, eat of the good things and do righteous deeds; truly, I am Knowing of what you do.

52. And truly, this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord, so fear Me.

53. But they divided their affair among themselves into sects; each faction rejoicing in what it has.

54. So leave them in their heedlessness for a time.

55. Do they think that We extend to them of wealth and children.

56. We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive.

57. Surely, those who, from fear of their Lord, are apprehensive.

58. And those who believe in the verses of their Lord.

59. And those who do not associate partners with their Lord.

60. And those who give what they give while their hearts tremble, knowing that to their Lord they will return.

61. It is they who hasten toward good deeds, and they are foremost in them.

62. And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity; and with Us is a record that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged.

63. Rather, their hearts are in heedlessness of this, and they have deeds besides that which they continue to do.

64. Until, when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, behold, they cry out.

65. Do not cry out today; surely, you will not be helped by Us.

66. My verses were recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels.

67. Arrogant toward it, conversing by night, shunning it.

68. Have they not reflected upon the Word, or has there come to them that which did not come to their forefathers?

69. Or did they not recognize their messenger, so they deny him?

70. Or do they say, "In him is madness"? Rather, he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth.

71. And if the truth had followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been corrupted. Rather, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder.

72. Or do you ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is better, and He is the best of providers.

73. And surely, you call them to a straight path.

74. And certainly, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path.

75. And even if We showed them mercy and removed whatever harm afflicted them, they would persist blindly in their transgression.

76. And indeed, We seized them with punishment, yet they did not humble themselves to their Lord, nor did they supplicate.

77. Until, when We open upon them a gate of severe punishment, behold, they are plunged into despair therein.

78. And He is the One Who brought into being for you hearing, sight, and hearts; little are you grateful.

79. And He is the One Who multiplied you on earth, and to Him you will be gathered.

80. And He is the One Who gives life and causes death, and to Him belongs the alternation of the night and the day; will you not reason?

81. Rather, they say the like of what the former peoples said.

82. They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, will we really be resurrected?

83. Certainly, we and our forefathers were promised this before; this is nothing but tales of the ancients."

84. Say, "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you know?"

85. They will say, "To Allah." Say, "Will you not then remember?"

86. Say, "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Great Throne?"

87. They will say, "To Allah." Say, "Will you not then be mindful of Him?"

88. Say, "In Whose hand is the dominion of all things, He grants protection, but none can grant protection against Him, if you know?"

89. They will say, "To Allah." Say, "Then how are you deluded?"

90. Rather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars.

91. Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity; otherwise, each deity would have taken away what it created, and some of them would have prevailed over others. Glory be to Allah above what they describe.

92. Knower of the unseen and the witnessed; exalted is He above what they associate.

93. Say, "My Lord, if You should show me what they are promised.

94. My Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people."

95. And We are surely able to show you what We promise them.

96. Repel evil by that which is best; We are most knowing of what they describe.

97. And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils.

98. And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me."

99. Until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back.

100. That I may do righteousness in what I left behind." No; it is only a word he is saying — and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.

101. Then when the Horn is blown, no kinship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another.

102. So whoever's scales are heavy — those are the successful.

103. And whoever's scales are light — those are the ones who have lost themselves; in Hellfire they will abide eternally.

104. The Fire will scorch their faces, and therein they will grimace.

105. "Were not My verses recited to you, yet you used to deny them?"

106. They will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray.

107. Our Lord, remove us from it; if we return, then surely we are wrongdoers."

108. He will say, "Be despised therein, and do not speak to Me.

109. Indeed, there was a group of My servants who would say, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of those who show mercy.'

110. But you took them in mockery, until they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.

111. Surely, I have rewarded them this Day for their patience; truly, it is they who are the triumphant."

112. He will say, "How long did you remain on earth, counting by years?"

113. They will say, "We remained a day or part of a day; ask those who keep count."

114. He will say, "You remained only a little, if only you had known.

115. Did you then think that We created you in vain, and that to Us you would not be returned?"

116. So exalted is Allah, the True King; there is no god except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.

117. And whoever invokes besides Allah another god — he has no proof thereof — then indeed, his reckoning is only with his Lord; truly, the disbelievers will not succeed.

118. And say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of those who show mercy."
