In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Glory be to Him Who took His servant by night — from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque, whose surroundings We have blessed — so that We might show him some of Our signs; truly, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
2. And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel: "Do not take any guardian apart from Me."
3. Descendants of those whom We carried with Noah; truly, he was a grateful servant.
4. And We decreed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture: "You will surely cause corruption on earth twice, and you will surely reach great arrogance."
5. So when the promise of the first of the two came, We sent against you servants of Ours possessing great might, and they ravaged throughout the homes; and it was a promise fulfilled.
6. Then We returned to you the turn against them, and We aided you with wealth and children, and made you more numerous in manpower.
7. If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, it is against yourselves. Then when the promise of the second came, it was to disgrace your faces, and to enter the mosque as they entered it the first time, and to utterly destroy whatever they overcame.
8. Perhaps your Lord will have mercy upon you; but if you return, We will return. And We have made Hellfire a prison-bed for the disbelievers.
9. Truly, this Quran guides to that which is most upright, and gives glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds, that for them is a great reward.
10. And that for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have prepared for them a painful punishment.
11. And the human being supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good; and the human being is ever hasty.
12. And We have made the night and the day two signs; then We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day illuminating, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know the number of years and the reckoning; and everything We have explained in detail.
13. And every human being — We have fastened his fate upon his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection We will bring forth for him a record which he will find spread open.
14. "Read your record; sufficient is your own self today as a reckoner against you."
15. Whoever is guided is only guided for his own soul; and whoever goes astray only goes astray against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We send a messenger.
16. And when We intend to destroy a town, We command its affluent ones, but they defiantly disobey therein; thus the word becomes justified against it, and We utterly destroy it.
17. And how many generations have We destroyed after Noah! And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as All-Aware, All-Seeing.
18. Whoever desires the immediate life, We hasten for him therein whatever We will, for whomever We intend; then We appoint for him Hell, wherein he will burn, condemned and driven away.
19. And whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it with the striving it deserves, while he is a believer — those, their striving is appreciated.
20. To each — these and those — We extend from the bounty of your Lord; and the bounty of your Lord is never restricted.
21. See how We have favored some of them over others; yet the Hereafter is greater in degrees and greater in distinction.
22. Do not set up another god with Allah, lest you become condemned and forsaken.
23. And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you show excellence to parents. Whether one or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them "uff," nor repel them, but speak to them a noble word.
24. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy, and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them, as they raised me when I was small."
25. Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves; if you are righteous, then surely He is ever forgiving to the oft-returning.
26. And give the relative his due right, and the needy, and the traveler, and do not squander wastefully.
27. Surely the squanderers are brothers of the devils; and Satan is ever ungrateful to his Lord.
28. And if you turn away from them, seeking mercy from your Lord which you hope for, then speak to them a gentle word.
29. And do not make your hand chained to your neck, nor extend it completely, lest you sit blamed and regretful.
30. Surely your Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts it; indeed, He is ever, concerning His servants, fully aware and seeing.
31. And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is a great sin.
32. And do not approach adultery; indeed, it is an immorality and an evil way.
33. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly — We have given his guardian authority, let him not exceed limits in killing; indeed, he is ever supported.
34. And do not approach the property of the orphan, except in the best manner, until he reaches maturity; and fulfill the covenant — indeed, the covenant will be questioned.
35. And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an accurate balance; that is better and fairest in result.
36. And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge; indeed, hearing, sight, and heart — all of these will be questioned.
37. And do not walk upon the earth boastfully; indeed, you will neither penetrate the earth nor reach the mountains in height.
38. All of that — its evil is detested by your Lord.
39. That is from what your Lord has revealed to you of wisdom; and do not set up with Allah another god, lest you be cast into Hell, blamed and rejected.
40. Has your Lord then favored you with sons and taken daughters from among the angels for Himself? Indeed, you utter a grave statement.
41. And We have varied explanations in this Quran so that they may take heed; yet it increases them only in aversion.
42. Say, "If there had been other gods with Him, as they claim, then they would surely have sought a way to the Owner of the Throne."
43. Exalted is He, and high above what they say, with great elevation.
44. The seven heavens and the earth and whoever is in them glorify Him; and there is not a thing except that it exalts Him by His praise, but you do not comprehend their glorification. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing, Forgiving.
45. And when you read the Quran, We place between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed barrier.
46. And We have placed coverings over their hearts, so that they do not understand it, and deafness in their ears; and when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn their backs in aversion.
47. We know best what they listen to, when they listen to you, and when they confer secretly, when the wrongdoers say, "You follow none but a man affected by magic."
48. See how they strike similitudes for you; thus they have gone astray, and cannot find a way.
49. And they say, "When we have become bones and fragments, will we indeed be raised as a new creation?"
50. Say: be stones or iron.
51. Or a creation you deem greater." Then they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He Who created you the first time." Then they will shake their heads at you and say, "When will it be?" Say, "Perhaps it will be soon.
52. On the Day He calls you, you will respond praising Him, and you will think that you had remained but a little while."
53. And say to My servants to say that which is best; surely Satan sows discord among them; surely Satan is to the human being a clear enemy.
54. Your Lord knows you best; if He wills, He will have mercy upon you, or if He wills, He will punish you; and We have not sent you over them as a guardian.
55. And your Lord knows best who is in the heavens and the earth; and certainly We have favored some prophets over others; and We gave David the Psalms.
56. Say, "Call upon those whom you claim besides Him; they have no power to remove harm from you, nor to avert it."
57. Those whom they call upon seek means of nearness to their Lord — which of them is nearest — and they hope for His mercy and fear His punishment; surely the punishment of your Lord is ever to be guarded against.
58. And there is no town but that We will destroy it before the Day of Resurrection, or punish it with severe punishment; that is inscribed in the Book.
59. And nothing prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them; and We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her; and We do not send signs except to instill fear.
60. And when We said to you, "Surely your Lord encompasses the people"; and We did not make the vision which We showed you except as a trial for the people, and the accursed tree in the Quran; and We frighten them, but it only increases them in great transgression.
61. And when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," so they prostrated, except Iblis; he said, "Shall I prostrate to one whom You created from clay?"
62. He said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely lead his descendants astray, except a few."
63. He said, "Go, and whoever among them follows you — then surely Hell is your recompense, an ample recompense."
64. "And incite whoever you can among them with your voice, and rally against them your cavalry and your infantry, and become a partner with them in wealth and children, and promise them." But Satan promises them nothing except delusion.
65. "Surely, over My servants you have no authority; and sufficient is your Lord as Guardian."
66. Your Lord is He Who drives for you the ships in the sea, that you may seek of His bounty; surely He is ever Merciful to you.
67. And when harm touches you in the sea, those whom you call upon vanish, except Him; but when He delivers you safely to land, you turn away; and the human being is ever ungrateful.
68. Then do you feel secure that He will not cause a part of the land to swallow you, or send upon you a storm of stones? Then you would find no guardian for yourselves.
69. Or do you feel secure that He will not return you to it another time, and send upon you a violent wind, and drown you because of your disbelief? Then you would find no advocate for yourselves against Us.
70. And certainly We have honored the children of Adam, and carried them on land and sea, and provided them with good things, and favored them greatly above many of those whom We have created.
71. The Day We will call every people by their leader; then whoever is given his record in his right hand — those will read their record, and they will not be wronged even by a thread.
72. And whoever is blind in this life will be blind in the Hereafter, and even further astray from the path.
73. And they almost tempted you away from what We revealed to you, so that you would invent against Us something else; and then they would have taken you as a close friend.
74. And had We not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined toward them a little.
75. Then We would have made you taste double in life and double in death; then you would not find for yourself against Us any helper.
76. And indeed, they almost provoked you from the land to expel you from it; and then they would not have remained after you, except for a little while.
77. The practice concerning the messengers We sent before you; and you will not find any alteration in Our practice.
78. Establish prayer from the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night, and the Quran of dawn; surely, the Quran of dawn is witnessed.
79. And from the night, keep vigil with it as additional worship for you; perhaps your Lord will raise you to a praised station.
80. And say, "My Lord, cause me to enter with an entrance of truth, and cause me to exit with an exit of truth, and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority."
81. And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has vanished; surely, falsehood is ever bound to vanish."
82. And We send down from the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers; yet it increases the wrongdoers in nothing but loss.
83. And when We bestow favor upon the human being, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, he is ever despairing.
84. Say, "Each acts according to his nature; and your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way."
85. And they ask you about the spirit; say, "The spirit is of the command of my Lord, and you have not been given of knowledge except a little."
86. And if We willed, We could surely take away that which We revealed to you; then you would not find for yourself concerning it against Us any guardian.
87. Except as a mercy from your Lord; surely, His favor upon you has ever been great.
88. Say, "If humankind and jinn gathered together to produce the like of this Quran, they would not produce its like, even if they were helpers to one another."
89. And certainly, We have diversified for humankind in this Quran every kind of example; yet most people refuse anything but disbelief.
90. And they say, "We will never believe in you until you cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth.
91. Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapevines, and cause rivers to burst forth abundantly within it.
92. Or you cause the sky to fall upon us in fragments, as you have claimed, or you bring Allah and the angels directly before us.
93. Or you have a house of adornment, or you ascend into the sky — and we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we can read." Say, "Glory be to my Lord! Am I anything but a human messenger?"
94. And nothing prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them, except that they said, "Has Allah sent a human as a messenger?"
95. Say, "If there had been angels upon the earth walking securely, We would have surely sent down to them from the sky an angel as a messenger."
96. Say, "Allah suffices as a witness between me and you; truly, He is ever, concerning His servants, All-Aware, All-Seeing."
97. And whomever Allah guides, he is rightly guided; and whomever He leads astray — you will never find for them protectors besides Him. And We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection upon their faces — blind, dumb, and deaf. Their refuge is Hell; whenever it subsides, We will increase for them the blaze.
98. That is their recompense because they disbelieved in Our verses and said, "When we are bones and dust, will we indeed be resurrected as a new creation?"
99. Have they not seen that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, is able to create the likes of them? And He has appointed for them a term about which there is no doubt; yet the wrongdoers refuse anything but disbelief.
100. Say, "If you possessed the treasures of my Lord's mercy, you would surely withhold them for fear of spending; and the human being is ever miserly."
101. Certainly, We gave Moses nine clear signs; so ask the Children of Israel when he came to them, and Pharaoh said to him, "Truly, I think you, O Moses, are bewitched."
102. He said, "You certainly know that none has sent these down except the Lord of the heavens and the earth, as clear proofs; and truly, I think you, O Pharaoh, are doomed."
103. So he intended to drive them out from the land; but We drowned him and all those with him altogether.
104. And after him, We said to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land; and when the promise of the Hereafter comes, We shall bring you forth as a mixed assembly."
105. And with truth We have sent it down, and with truth it has descended; and We have not sent you except as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner.
106. And a Quran that We have divided, that you may read to people gradually; and We have revealed it progressively.
107. Say, "Believe in it, or do not believe; indeed, those who were given knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, fall down upon their faces in prostration."
108. And they say, "Glory be to our Lord; truly, the promise of our Lord is surely fulfilled."
109. And they fall down upon their faces weeping, and it increases them in humility.
110. Say, "Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful; whichever you call upon, to Him belong the most beautiful names." And do not recite your prayer too loudly nor too quietly, but seek a way between these.
111. And say, "Praise be to Allah, Who has not taken a son, and Who has no partner in sovereignty, nor does He have any ally out of weakness." And magnify Him with great magnification.
