In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Quran.

2. Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.

3. Leave them to eat and enjoy themselves, and let hope distract them; soon they will know.

4. And We did not destroy any town except that it had a known decree.

5. No nation can advance its appointed term, nor can they delay it.

6. And they say, "O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down, you are surely mad.

7. Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are among the truthful?"

8. We do not send down the angels except with truth; and then they would not be granted respite.

9. Truly, it is We Who sent down the Reminder, and truly, We are its Guardian.

10. And certainly, We sent messengers before you among the factions of the former peoples.

11. And no messenger came to them except that they mocked him.

12. Thus do We insert it into the hearts of the criminals.

13. They do not believe in it, though the precedent of the former peoples has already passed.

14. And even if We opened for them a gate from the heaven, and they continued ascending through it.

15. They would surely say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled; rather, we are a people bewitched."

16. And certainly, We have placed constellations in the heaven and adorned it for the observers.

17. And We have protected it from every outcast devil.

18. Except one who steals a hearing, and a clear blazing flame pursues him.

19. And the earth — We have spread it out, and set therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein every measured thing.

20. And We have made therein means of livelihood for you, and for those whom you do not provide.

21. And there is not a thing but its storehouses are with Us, and We do not send it down except in a known measure.

22. And We send the winds fertilizing, and We send down water from the sky, and give it to you to drink; and you are not its keepers.

23. And truly, it is We Who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritors.

24. And certainly, We know those who have gone before among you, and certainly, We know those who will come later.

25. And truly, your Lord — He will gather them; indeed, He is Wise, Knowing.

26. Certainly, We created the human being from clay, from molded dark mud.

27. And the jinn — We created him before from scorching fire.

28. And when your Lord said to the angels, "I am creating a human being from clay, from molded dark mud.

29. So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down before him, prostrating."

30. So the angels prostrated, all of them together.

31. Except Iblis; he refused to be among those who prostrated.

32. He said, "O Iblis, what is the matter with you that you are not among those who prostrate?"

33. He said, "I am not one to prostrate to a human being whom You created from clay, from molded dark mud."

34. He said, "Then get out from it, for surely you are cast out.

35. And surely upon you is the curse until the Day of Judgment."

36. He said, "My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected."

37. He said, "Then surely you are among those granted respite.

38. Until the Day of the appointed time."

39. He said, "My Lord, because You have led me astray, I will surely adorn for them on earth, and I will surely mislead them all.

40. Except Your servants among them, the sincere."

41. He said, "This is a straight path upon Me.

42. Surely, My servants — you have no authority over them, except those who follow you among the deviators.

43. And surely Hell is the promised place for them all.

44. It has seven gates; for each gate is an assigned portion of them."

45. Surely, the reverent will be in gardens and springs.

46. "Enter it in peace, secure."

47. And We will remove whatever rancor is in their hearts — brothers, upon couches facing one another.

48. No fatigue will touch them in it, nor will they ever be expelled from it.

49. Inform My servants that I — I am the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

50. And that My punishment — it is the painful punishment.

51. And inform them about the guests of Abraham.

52. When they entered upon him, they said, "Peace." He said, "Indeed, we are afraid of you."

53. They said, "Do not fear; we bring you glad tidings of a learned boy."

54. He said, "Do you give me glad tidings though old age has touched me? Then of what do you give me glad tidings?"

55. They said, "We have given you glad tidings in truth; so do not be among those who despair."

56. He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?"

57. He said, "Then what is your mission, O messengers?"

58. They said, "We have been sent to a criminal people.

59. Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will surely save them all.

60. Except his wife; We have decreed that she is among those who remain behind."

61. And when the messengers came to the family of Lot.

62. He said, "Surely, you are unfamiliar people."

63. They said, "Rather, we have come to you with that about which they were disputing.

64. And we have brought you the truth, and indeed, we are truthful.

65. So set out with your family during a portion of the night, and follow behind them; and let none among you look back, and proceed to where you are commanded."

66. And We conveyed to him this decree: that the root of these people would be cut off by morning.

67. And the people of the city came, expecting good news.

68. He said, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me.

69. And fear Allah, and do not humiliate me."

70. They said, "Did we not forbid you from interfering with others?"

71. He said, "These are my daughters, if you must act."

72. By your life, they are wandering blindly in their intoxication.

73. So the blast seized them at sunrise.

74. And We turned its highest part to its lowest, and rained upon them stones of baked clay.

75. Surely, in that are signs for those who discern.

76. And indeed, it is upon an established road.

77. Surely, in that is a sign for the believers.

78. And the companions of the thicket were surely wrongdoers.

79. So We took vengeance upon them; and indeed, both lie on a clear, well-known road.

80. And certainly, the companions of Al-Hijr denied the messengers.

81. And We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them.

82. And they used to carve from the mountains houses, feeling secure.

83. But the blast seized them in the morning.

84. So nothing availed them of what they used to earn.

85. And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth; and indeed, the Hour is surely coming — so overlook with gracious forgiveness.

86. Certainly, your Lord — He is the All-Creating, the All-Knowing.

87. And certainly, We gave you seven of the oft-repeated and the Great Quran.

88. Do not extend your eyes toward what We have granted certain groups among them to enjoy, and do not grieve over them; and lower your wing to the believers.

89. And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner."

90. Just as We sent down upon those who divided.

91. Those who made the Quran into fragments.

92. So by your Lord, We will surely question them all.

93. About what they used to do.

94. So proclaim openly what you are commanded, and turn away from those who associate others with Allah.

95. Surely, We are sufficient for you against the mockers.

96. Those who set up another god with Allah; but soon they will know.

97. And certainly, We know that your breast is constrained by what they say.

98. So glorify the praise of your Lord, and be among those who prostrate.

99. And worship your Lord until certainty comes to you.
