In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Alif. Lam. Ra. A Book whose verses have been perfected, then clearly detailed, from One Wise, All-Aware.
2. That you worship none but Allah; truly, I am to you from Him a warner and a bearer of glad tidings.
3. And that you seek forgiveness from your Lord, then turn to Him in repentance; He will grant you good enjoyment until an appointed term, and bestow His favor upon every possessor of merit. But if you turn away, then surely I fear for you the punishment of a great Day.
4. To Allah is your return; and He is powerful over all things.
5. Surely, they fold up their breasts to hide from Him. Surely, even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal; truly, He is All-Knowing of what lies within the breasts.
6. And there is no creature on earth except that its provision is upon Allah; and He knows its dwelling place and its resting place — all is in a clear Book.
7. And He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six days — and His Throne was upon the water — that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. Yet if you say, "You will surely be resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will certainly say, "This is nothing but clear magic."
8. And if We delay the punishment from them until a counted term, they will surely say, "What holds it back?" Surely, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and that which they used to mock will encompass them.
9. And if We let the human taste mercy from Us, then withdraw it from him, surely he becomes despairing, ungrateful.
10. And if We let him taste favor after hardship has touched him, he will surely say, "Misfortunes have departed from me." Truly, he becomes exultant, boastful.
11. Except those who are patient and do righteous deeds; for them is forgiveness and a great reward.
12. Then perhaps you would leave aside some of what is revealed to you, and your breast would become constricted by it, because they say, "Why has not a treasure been sent down upon him, or an angel come with him?" You are only a warner; and Allah is Guardian over all things.
13. Or do they say, "He has fabricated it"? Say, "Then bring ten chapters like it, fabricated, and call upon whomever you can besides Allah, if you are truthful."
14. And if they do not respond to you, then know that it was revealed only with Allah's knowledge, and that there is no god but He. Then will you submit?
15. Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornment, We will fully repay them for their deeds in it, and they will not be deprived therein.
16. Those are the ones for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter except the Fire; and what they did therein has come to nothing, and worthless is what they used to do.
17. Is one who stands upon clear evidence from his Lord, and a witness from Him recites it, and before it was the Book of Moses as a guide and mercy — those believe in it. But whoever disbelieves in it from among the factions, the Fire is his promised place. So do not be in doubt concerning it; it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the people do not believe.
18. And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah? Those will be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord." Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers.
19. Those who hinder from the way of Allah and seek to make it crooked, and they, concerning the Hereafter, are disbelievers.
20. Those could not escape on earth, nor did they have besides Allah any protectors. The punishment will be multiplied for them; they were not able to hear, nor did they see.
21. Those are the ones who have lost themselves, and what they used to invent has departed from them.
22. Without doubt, it is they who, in the Hereafter, are the greatest losers.
23. Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and humble themselves before their Lord — those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.
24. The example of the two groups is like the blind and deaf, and the seeing and hearing; are they equal in comparison? Will you not then remember?
25. And certainly We sent Noah to his people: "Truly, I am to you a clear warner.
26. That you worship none but Allah; truly, I fear for you the punishment of a painful Day."
27. But the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said, "We see you as nothing but a human like ourselves, and we see none following you except those who are the lowest among us, at first glance; nor do we see in you any superiority over us — rather, we think you are liars."
28. He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord, and He has granted me mercy from Himself, yet it has been obscured from your sight — should we force it upon you while you are averse to it?
29. And O my people, I do not ask you for wealth in return for it; my reward is only upon Allah. Nor will I drive away those who believe; surely, they will meet their Lord — but I see you as a people behaving ignorantly.
30. And O my people, who would help me against Allah if I drove them away? Will you not then reflect?
31. Nor do I say to you that I possess the treasuries of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel; nor do I say of those whom your eyes look down upon that Allah will never grant them any good — Allah knows best what is within their souls; indeed, I would then be among the wrongdoers."
32. They said, "O Noah, you have disputed with us and prolonged your dispute with us; so bring upon us what you promise us, if you are among the truthful."
33. He said, "Only Allah will bring it upon you, if He wills; and you cannot escape.
34. Nor will my advice benefit you, even if I desire to advise you, if Allah desires to let you go astray; He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned."
35. Or do they say, "He has fabricated it"? Say, "If I have fabricated it, then upon me is my crime, and I am innocent of the crimes you commit."
36. And it was revealed to Noah: "None of your people will believe except those who have already believed; so do not grieve over what they used to do."
37. "And construct the ship under Our eyes and Our revelation, and do not address Me concerning those who have done wrong; surely, they will be drowned."
38. And he was constructing the ship, and whenever chiefs of his people passed by him, they mocked him. He said, "If you mock us, then we will mock you just as you mock."
39. "Then you will know upon whom will come a punishment that disgraces him, and upon whom will descend a lasting punishment."
40. Until, when Our command came and the oven overflowed, We said, "Carry into it two of every kind, and your family — except those against whom the word has already preceded — and those who have believed." But none had believed with him except a few.
41. And he said, "Embark in it; in the name of Allah is its sailing and its anchoring. Surely, my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful."
42. And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called out to his son, who was apart, "O my son, embark with us, and do not be with the disbelievers."
43. He said, "I will take refuge on a mountain that will protect me from the water." He said, "There is no protector today from Allah's command except for whom He has mercy." And the waves came between them, and he was among those drowned.
44. And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water; and O sky, withhold." And the water subsided, and the matter was concluded, and it settled upon Judi; and it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people."
45. And Noah called upon his Lord and said, "My Lord, surely my son is of my family, and surely Your promise is true, and You are the most just of judges."
46. He said, "O Noah, surely he is not of your family; surely, he is unrighteous conduct. So do not ask Me about that of which you have no knowledge. Surely, I admonish you lest you be among the ignorant."
47. He said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking You about that of which I have no knowledge; and unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers."
48. It was said, "O Noah, descend with peace from Us, and blessings upon you and upon nations from those with you; and nations We will grant enjoyment, then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment."
49. These are among the tidings of the unseen which We reveal to you; neither you nor your people knew them before this. So be patient; surely, the outcome is for those mindful of Allah.
50. And to Aad, their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. You are but inventors of falsehood."
51. "O my people, I do not ask you for any reward for it; my reward is only upon the One Who created me. Will you not then understand?"
52. "And O my people, seek forgiveness from your Lord, then turn to Him in repentance; He will send upon you abundant rain from the sky, and increase you in strength added to your strength. And do not turn away as criminals."
53. They said, "O Hud, you have not brought us any clear proof, and we will not abandon our gods on your word, nor are we believers in you."
54. "We say only that some of our gods have afflicted you with evil." He said, "I call Allah to witness, and you bear witness, that I am free from whatever you associate.
55. Besides Him. So plot against me, all of you, then grant me no respite."
56. "Truly, I have relied upon Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature except that He holds it by its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is upon a straight path."
57. "But if you turn away, then I have conveyed to you that with which I was sent to you; and my Lord will replace you with another people, and you will not harm Him at all. Indeed, my Lord is Guardian over all things."
58. And when Our command came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by a mercy from Us; and We saved them from a severe punishment.
59. And that was Aad; they rejected the signs of their Lord, disobeyed His messengers, and followed the command of every obstinate tyrant.
60. And they were pursued by a curse in this world — and on the Day of Resurrection. Truly, Aad disbelieved in their Lord. So away with Aad, the people of Hud.
61. And to Thamud, their brother Salih; he said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. He brought you forth from the earth and settled you therein; so seek His forgiveness, then turn to Him in repentance. Truly, my Lord is near, responsive."
62. They said, "O Salih, you were among us a source of hope before this. Do you forbid us to worship what our fathers worshiped? And truly, we are in grave doubt concerning that to which you invite us."
63. He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord, and He has granted me mercy from Himself, then who would protect me from Allah if I disobeyed Him? You would not increase me in anything but loss."
64. "And O my people, this is the she-camel of Allah, a sign for you; so leave her to graze on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with harm, lest a near punishment seize you."
65. But they hamstrung her; so he said, "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. That is a promise not to be belied."
66. So when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by a mercy from Us, and from the disgrace of that day. Truly, your Lord — He is the Powerful, the Mighty.
67. And the cry seized those who did wrong; so they became lying lifeless in their homes.
68. As though they had never dwelt therein. Truly, Thamud disbelieved in their Lord. So away with Thamud!
69. Certainly, Our messengers came to Abraham with glad tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing a roasted calf.
70. But when he saw their hands not reaching toward it, he found them strange and felt apprehension about them. They said, "Do not fear; we have been sent to the people of Lot."
71. And his wife was standing, and she laughed; so We gave her glad tidings of Isaac, and after Isaac, of Jacob.
72. She said, "Woe to me! Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman, and this husband of mine is an old man? Truly, this is an astonishing thing."
73. They said, "Do you marvel at the decree of Allah? The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, O people of the house; surely, He is Praiseworthy, Glorious."
74. Then, when the fear had departed from Abraham, and the glad tidings had reached him, he began disputing with Us concerning the people of Lot.
75. Truly, Abraham was forbearing, compassionate, oft-returning.
76. "O Abraham, desist from this; indeed, the command of your Lord has come, and surely, there will come to them a punishment that cannot be repelled."
77. And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was distressed by them and felt powerless concerning them, and he said, "This is a difficult day."
78. And his people came rushing toward him — and before this, they had been committing evil deeds. He said, "O my people, these are my daughters; they are purer for you. So fear Allah, and do not disgrace me concerning my guests. Is there not among you a right-minded man?"
79. They said, "You certainly know we have no right in your daughters, and indeed, you know well what we desire."
80. He said, "If only I had strength against you or could take refuge in a strong support."
81. They said, "O Lot, indeed, we are messengers of your Lord; they will never reach you. So set out with your family during a portion of the night, and let none among you look back — except your wife; indeed, she will be struck by what strikes them. Surely, their appointed time is the morning; is not the morning near?"
82. So when Our command came, We turned its highest part to its lowest, and rained upon it stones of layered baked clay.
83. Marked from your Lord — and it is not far from the wrongdoers.
84. And to Midian, their brother Shuayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. And do not diminish measure and weight; I see you in good condition, but I fear for you the punishment of an encompassing Day."
85. "And O my people, give full measure and weight in justice, and do not deprive people of their due, nor commit abuse on earth as corruptors."
86. "What remains from Allah is better for you, if you are believers; and I am not a guardian over you."
87. They said, "O Shuayb, does your prayer command you that we should abandon what our fathers worshiped, or that we should do with our wealth as we please? Surely, you are the forbearing, the rightly guided!"
88. He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord, and He has provided me with good provision from Himself? And I do not intend to differ from you in what I forbid you; I intend only reform as much as I am able. And my success is only through Allah; upon Him I rely, and to Him I turn."
89. "And O my people, let not your opposition to me cause you to suffer what befell the people of Noah, or the people of Hud, or the people of Salih; nor are the people of Lot far from you."
90. "And seek forgiveness from your Lord, then repent to Him; surely, my Lord is Merciful, Loving."
91. They said, "O Shuayb, we do not understand much of what you say, and indeed we see you weak among us; and were it not for your family, we would have stoned you, for you are not powerful against us."
92. He said, "O my people, is my family more powerful to you than Allah, whom you have cast behind your backs? Surely, my Lord encompasses all that you do."
93. "And O my people, act according to your position; indeed, I am acting. Soon you will know upon whom will come a punishment that disgraces him, and who is a liar. And watch; indeed, I am watching with you."
94. And when Our command came, We saved Shuayb and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us; and the cry seized those who had done wrong, so they became lying lifeless in their homes.
95. As if they had never prospered therein. Surely, away with Midian, just as Thamud was cast away.
96. And certainly We sent Moses with Our signs and a clear authority.
97. To Pharaoh and his chiefs; but they followed Pharaoh's command, and Pharaoh's command was not rightly guided.
98. He will precede his people on the Day of Resurrection, and lead them into the Fire; and wretched is the watering place to which they are led.
99. And they were pursued by a curse in this world — and on the Day of Resurrection. How vile the grant they are granted.
100. That is from the news of the towns which We relate to you; among them are some still standing, and some mowed down.
101. And We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. Their gods whom they invoked besides Allah availed them nothing when the command of your Lord came, and they increased them in nothing but ruin.
102. And such is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the towns while they are doing wrong; surely, His seizure is painful, severe.
103. Surely, in that is a sign for whoever fears the punishment of the Hereafter; that is a Day for which humankind will be gathered, and that is a Day witnessed.
104. And We do not delay it except for a limited term.
105. On the Day it comes, no soul will speak except by His permission; among them will be the wretched and the fortunate.
106. As for those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire; for them therein is sighing and wailing.
107. Abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills; surely, your Lord does whatever He intends.
108. And as for those who are fortunate, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills — a gift uninterrupted.
109. So do not be in doubt concerning what these worship; they worship nothing but as their fathers worshiped before; and surely, We will give them their share in full, undiminished.
110. Certainly, We gave Moses the Book, but disagreement arose concerning it; and had it not been for a word that preceded from your Lord, judgment would have been passed between them. And indeed, they are in disquieting doubt about it.
111. And surely, to each your Lord will fully repay their deeds; truly, He is All-Aware of what they do.
112. So remain steadfast as you have been commanded, along with those who have repented with you, and do not transgress; indeed, He is All-Seeing of what you do.
113. And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire touch you; and you will have no protectors apart from Allah, nor will you then be helped.
114. And establish prayer at the two ends of the day — and at the approach of night. Surely, good deeds remove bad deeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.
115. And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow the reward of those who do good to be lost.
116. Then why were there not, among the generations before you, people possessing a remnant, forbidding corruption on earth — except a few whom We saved among them? But those who did wrong pursued the luxuries they were given, and they were criminals.
117. And your Lord would never destroy towns unjustly while their people were reformers.
118. And had your Lord willed, He would have made humankind one community; yet they will not cease to differ.
119. Except those upon whom your Lord has mercy — and for that He created them. And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled: "I will surely fill Hellfire with jinn and humans all together."
120. And each We relate to you from the news of the messengers is to strengthen your heart thereby; and there has come to you in this the truth, and an admonition, and a reminder for the believers.
121. And say to those who do not believe, "Act according to your position; indeed, we too are acting.
122. And wait; indeed, we too are waiting."
123. And to Allah belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth, and to Him all matters are returned; so worship Him and rely upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do.
