In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the wise Book.

2. Is it astonishing to the people that We revealed to a man from among them: "Warn the people, and give glad tidings to those who believe that they have a sure footing with their Lord"? The disbelievers say, "Certainly, this is a manifest sorcerer."

3. Truly, your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the Throne, governing all affairs. There is no intercessor except after His permission. That is Allah, your Lord, so worship Him. Will you not then remember?

4. To Him is your return, all together — a true promise from Allah. Surely, He begins creation, then repeats it, to justly reward those who believe and do righteous deeds; but those who disbelieve will have a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment for what they used to deny.

5. He is the One who made the sun a radiant light and the moon a light, and determined for it phases, so that you may know the number of years and the reckoning. Allah did not create this except in truth; He details the signs for a people who know.

6. Surely, in the alternation of night and day, and in what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, are signs for a people mindful of Allah.

7. Truly, those who do not hope for Our meeting, and are pleased with the life of this world and feel secure therein, and those who are heedless of Our signs.

8. Their refuge will be the Fire, for what they used to earn.

9. Surely, those who believe and do righteous deeds — their Lord will guide them by their faith; beneath them rivers will flow in Gardens of bliss.

10. Their call therein will be, "Glory be to You, O Allah," and their greeting therein will be, "Peace." And the conclusion of their call will be, "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds."

11. If Allah were to hasten evil for the people as they hasten good, their term would have been concluded for them. But We leave those who do not hope for Our meeting wandering blindly in their transgression.

12. And when affliction touches the human being, he calls upon Us — lying on his side, or sitting, or standing — but when We remove from him his affliction, he passes on as though he had never called upon Us regarding an affliction that touched him. Thus is made fair-seeming to the extravagant what they used to do.

13. Certainly, We destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they would not believe. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.

14. Then We made you successors on earth after them, to observe how you would act.

15. And when Our clear verses are recited to them, those who do not hope for Our meeting say, "Bring a Quran other than this, or alter it." Say, "It is not for me to alter it of my own accord; I follow only what is revealed to me. Truly, I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."

16. Say, "Had Allah willed, I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have made it known to you; for I had remained among you a lifetime before it. Do you not then reason?"

17. Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or denies His verses? Surely, the criminals will not succeed.

18. And they worship besides Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say, "Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on earth?" Glory be to Him, and exalted is He above what they associate.

19. And humankind was not but one community, then they differed; and had it not been for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them concerning that over which they differ.

20. And they say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "The unseen belongs only to Allah; so wait — indeed, I am with you among those who wait."

21. And when We let the people taste mercy after adversity has touched them, behold, they plot against Our verses. Say, "Allah is swifter in plotting." Surely, Our messengers record what you plot.

22. It is He Who enables you to travel on land and sea; until, when you are in ships, and they sail with them by a favorable wind, and they rejoice therein, a stormy wind comes upon them, and waves come upon them from every direction, and they think they are surrounded — then they call upon Allah, sincere to Him in religion, "If You save us from this, we will surely be among the grateful."

23. But when He saves them, behold, they commit injustice on earth without right. O humankind, your injustice is only against yourselves — a brief enjoyment of the life of this world; then to Us is your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do.

24. The example of the life of this world is only like water which We send down from the sky, and the plants of the earth mingle with it, from which people and livestock eat; until, when the earth takes on its adornment and beautifies itself, and its people think they have power over it, Our command comes to it by night or by day, and We make it as a harvested field, as if it had not flourished yesterday. Thus do We explain the verses for a people who reflect.

25. And Allah invites to the Home of Peace, and guides whom He wills to a straight path.

26. For those who do good is goodness — and more. Neither darkness nor humiliation will cover their faces. Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide in it forever.

27. And those who earn evil deeds — the recompense of an evil deed is its equivalent, and humiliation will cover them. They will have no protector from Allah; as if their faces are covered with pieces of a dark night. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide in it forever.

28. And on the Day We gather them all together, then We will say to those who associated others with Allah, "Remain in your place — you and your partners." Then We will separate them, and their partners will say, "It was not us you used to worship."

29. "Allah is sufficient as a witness between us and you; we were indeed unaware of your worship."

30. There, every soul will examine what it sent forth, and they will be returned to Allah, their true Master; and lost from them will be what they used to invent.

31. Say, "Who provides for you from the heaven and the earth? Or who controls hearing and sight? And who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living? And who arranges every matter?" They will say, "Allah." Then say, "Will you not then show reverence?"

32. That is Allah, your true Lord. So what is there after the truth except error? How then are you turned away?

33. Thus the word of your Lord has come true against those who defiantly disobey — that they will not believe.

34. Say, "Is there among your partners any who begins creation and then repeats it?" Say, "Allah begins creation and then repeats it; how then are you deluded?"

35. Say, "Is there among your partners any who guides to the truth?" Say, "Allah guides to the truth. Is He Who guides to the truth more worthy to be followed, or he who cannot guide unless he is guided? What is the matter with you? How do you judge?"

36. And most of them follow nothing but conjecture; surely conjecture avails nothing against the truth. Truly, Allah is Knowing of what they do.

37. And this Quran could not have been produced by other than Allah; rather, it is a confirmation of what was before it, and a detailed explanation of the Scripture, about which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds.

38. Or do they say, "He has invented it"? Say, "Then bring forth a chapter like it, and call upon whomever you can besides Allah, if you are truthful."

39. Rather, they denied what they had not encompassed in knowledge and whose interpretation has not yet come to them. Thus did those before them deny; so observe how was the end of the wrongdoers.

40. And among them are those who believe in it, and among them are those who do not believe in it; and your Lord is most knowing of the corruptors.

41. And if they deny you, then say, "For me is my deed, and for you is your deed; you are free of what I do, and I am free of what you do."

42. And among them are those who listen to you; but can you cause the deaf to hear, even though they do not reason?

43. And among them are those who look at you; but can you guide the blind, even though they do not see?

44. Truly, Allah does not wrong people at all, but people wrong themselves.

45. And on the Day when He gathers them, it will be as if they had remained only an hour of the day, recognizing one another. Certainly, those who denied the meeting with Allah have lost, and they were not guided.

46. And whether We show you some of what We promise them, or We take you in death, to Us is their return; then Allah is Witness over what they do.

47. And for every nation is a messenger; so when their messenger comes, it will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be wronged.

48. And they say, "When will this promise be, if you are truthful?"

49. Say, "I possess neither harm nor benefit for myself, except what Allah wills. For every nation is an appointed term; when their term comes, they will neither delay it by an hour nor advance it."

50. Say, "Have you considered: if His punishment comes to you by night or by day, what part of it would the criminals seek to hasten?"

51. Then is it when it has occurred that you will believe in it? Now? — when you were hastening it before?

52. Then it will be said to those who wronged, "Taste the punishment of eternity; are you recompensed except for what you used to earn?"

53. And they inquire of you, "Is it true?" Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it is surely true; and you cannot escape."

54. And if every soul that wronged possessed all that is on earth, it would surely offer it as ransom; and they will conceal regret when they see the punishment. And it will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be wronged.

55. Undoubtedly, to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Undoubtedly, the promise of Allah is true, but most of them do not know.

56. He gives life and causes death, and to Him you will be returned.

57. O humankind, there has come to you an admonition from your Lord, and a healing for what is in the breasts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.

58. Say, "In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy — in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate."

59. Say, "Have you considered the provision Allah has sent down for you, of which you have made some unlawful and some lawful?" Say, "Has Allah permitted you, or do you invent lies against Allah?"

60. And what will be the assumption of those who invent lies against Allah on the Day of Resurrection? Truly, Allah is full of bounty toward humankind, but most of them are not grateful.

61. And you are not engaged in any matter, nor do you recite from it any portion of the Quran, nor do you perform any deed, except that We are witnesses over you when you are engrossed therein. And not absent from your Lord is an atom's weight on earth or in heaven, nor anything smaller than that or greater, except that it is in a clear book.

62. Surely, the allies of Allah — no fear shall be upon them, nor shall they grieve.

63. Those who believed and were mindful of Allah.

64. For them are glad tidings in the life of this world and in the Hereafter; there is no alteration to the words of Allah — that is the supreme triumph.

65. And let not their speech grieve you; indeed, all honor belongs to Allah alone. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

66. Truly, to Allah belongs whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on earth. And those who invoke partners besides Allah follow nothing but conjecture, and they do nothing but guess.

67. He is the One Who made for you the night that you may rest therein, and the day giving sight. Surely, in that are signs for a people who listen.

68. They say, "Allah has taken a son." Glory be to Him! He is the Self-Sufficient; to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. You have no authority for this. Do you say about Allah what you do not know?

69. Say, "Truly, those who invent lies against Allah will not succeed."

70. A brief enjoyment in this world; then to Us is their return; then We will make them taste the severe punishment because they used to disbelieve.

71. And recite to them the news of Noah, when he said to his people, "O my people, if my standing and my reminding of Allah's signs have become burdensome to you, then upon Allah I have relied; so resolve upon your affair, along with your partners, and let not your plan be obscure to you; then carry it out against me, and grant me no respite."

72. But if you turn away, I have not asked you for any reward; my reward is only upon Allah, and I have been commanded to be among those who submit."

73. Yet they denied him; so We saved him and those with him in the ark, and made them successors, and drowned those who denied Our signs. So observe how the end was for those who were warned.

74. Then after him, We sent messengers to their peoples, and they came to them with clear proofs; but they would not believe in what they had previously denied. Thus do We seal the hearts of the transgressors.

75. Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his chiefs with Our Signs; but they acted arrogantly, and they were a criminal people.

76. So when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Surely, this is clear magic."

77. Moses said, "Do you say to the truth when it has come to you, 'Is this magic?' Yet magicians will never succeed."

78. They said, "Have you come to us to turn us away from what we found our fathers upon, and that supremacy in the land be for you two? We will not believe in you two."

79. And Pharaoh said, "Bring me every knowledgeable magician."

80. So when the magicians came, Moses said to them, "Cast whatever you will cast."

81. And when they had cast, Moses said, "Indeed, what you have brought is magic; Allah will surely nullify it. Allah does not set right the work of corruptors."

82. And Allah establishes the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it.

83. But none believed in Moses except some offspring among his people, in fear of Pharaoh and their chiefs, that they would subject them to persecution; and indeed, Pharaoh was exalted in the land; and indeed, he was among the transgressors.

84. And Moses said, "O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then upon Him rely, if you are Muslims."

85. So they said, "Upon Allah we rely. Our Lord, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people.

86. And save us, by Your mercy, from the disbelieving people."

87. And We inspired Moses and his brother, "Settle your people in houses in Egypt, and make your houses direction of prayer, and establish prayer; and give glad tidings to the believers."

88. And Moses said, "Our Lord, You have given Pharaoh and his chiefs splendor and wealth in the life of this world, our Lord, so they lead astray from Your way. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts, so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment."

89. He said, "Your supplication has been answered; so remain steadfast, and do not follow the way of those who do not know."

90. And We took the Children of Israel across the sea; then Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and hostility, until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no god except the One in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am among the Submitters."

91. "Now? While you had disobeyed before and were among the corruptors?

92. So today We will save you in your body, that you may be a sign for those who come after you; and indeed, many among the people are heedless of Our Signs."

93. And certainly We settled the Children of Israel in a true settlement, and provided them with good things; yet they did not differ until knowledge came to them. Surely your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they used to differ.

94. So if you are in doubt concerning what We have sent down to you, ask those who read the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord; so do not be among those who doubt.

95. And do not be among those who deny the verses of Allah, lest you become among the losers.

96. Truly, those upon whom your Lord's decree has been justified will not believe.

97. Even if every sign should come to them — until they see the painful punishment.

98. Then why was there not a town that believed, so its belief benefited it — except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in the life of this world, and granted them enjoyment for a time.

99. And had your Lord willed, all those on earth would have believed altogether; would you then compel the people until they become believers?

100. And it is not for any soul to believe except by Allah's permission; and He places defilement upon those who do not reason.

101. Say, "Observe what is in the heavens and the earth." But signs and warnings do not avail a people who do not believe.

102. So do they await anything except the like of the days of those who passed away before them? Say, "Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait."

103. Then We save Our messengers and those who believe. Thus, it is surely incumbent upon Us to save the believers.

104. Say, "O people, if you are in doubt concerning my religion, then I do not worship those whom you worship besides Allah; rather, I worship Allah, Who causes you to die. And I have been commanded to be among the believers.

105. And to set your face toward the religion, inclining to truth, and never be among those who associate others with Allah.

106. And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you; for if you do, then indeed you would be among the wrongdoers."

107. And if Allah should touch you with harm, none can remove it except Him; and if He intends good for you, none can repel His favor. He causes it to reach whom He wills among His servants; and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

108. Say, "O people, the truth has certainly come to you from your Lord. So whoever is guided is guided only for his own soul, and whoever goes astray only goes astray against it; and I am not a guardian over you."

109. And follow what is revealed to you, and be patient until Allah judges; and He is the best of judges.
