In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

1. Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters were not going to abandon their ways until clear proof came to them.

2. A Messenger from Allah, reciting pure scriptures.

3. In them are upright writings.

4. Yet those who were given the Scripture became divided only after clear proof had come to them.

5. They were commanded only to worship Allah, sincerely devoting their faith to Him alone, inclining to truth, to establish prayer, and to give charity — that is the true and upright religion.

6. Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters will be in the Fire of Hell, remaining there forever. They are the worst of all creation.

7. Those who believe and do righteous deeds — they are the best of all creation.

8. Their reward with their Lord will be Gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow, where they will remain forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. This is for whoever stands in awe of his Lord.
