In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

1. Blessed is He in Whose hand rests all dominion, and He has power over everything.

2. He created death and life to test you — which of you is best in deeds. He is the Almighty, the Most Forgiving.

3. He created seven heavens, one above another. You will see no flaw in the creation of the Most Merciful. Look again — do you see any cracks?

4. Then look again, once more — your sight will return to you defeated and fatigued.

5. We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We made them missiles against the devils, and We have prepared for them the torment of blazing fire.

6. For those who deny their Lord is the punishment of Hell — what a terrible destination!

7. When they are thrown into it, they will hear it roaring as it boils over.

8. It almost bursts apart with rage. Each time a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no warner come to you?"

9. They will reply, "Yes, a warner did come to us, but we rejected him and said, 'Allah has revealed nothing — you are deeply mistaken.'"

10. And they will say, "If only we had listened or used our reason, we would not be among the people of the blazing fire."

11. Thus they will confess their sins — so away with the people of the blazing fire!

12. Those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and a great reward.

13. Whether you speak secretly or openly, He surely knows what lies within the hearts.

14. Does He who created not know? He is the Most Subtle, the All-Aware.

15. He is the One Who made the earth manageable for you — so travel freely through its paths, and eat from His provision. To Him is your resurrection.

16. Do you feel secure that the One in heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you — and suddenly it begins to quake?

17. Or do you feel secure that the One in heaven will not send against you a storm of stones? Soon you will know how severe My warning is!

18. Those before them also denied — so how was My disapproval?

19. Have they not observed the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? None holds them except the Most Merciful. Truly, He sees all things clearly.

20. Who is there to be your army, to help you against the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are only lost in delusion.

21. Who is there to provide for you if He withholds His provision? Yet they persist stubbornly in arrogance and rejection.

22. Is the one who walks stumbling face-down better guided, or the one who walks upright on a straight path?

23. Say, "He is the One Who created you, giving you hearing, sight, and hearts — yet how rarely you show gratitude!"

24. Say, "He is the One Who scattered you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered."

25. Still they ask, "When will this promise come true, if you are truthful?"

26. Say, "Knowledge of this rests only with Allah; I am simply a clear warner."

27. But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieved will become gloomy, and it will be said, "This is what you used to mock!"

28. Say, "Consider this: whether Allah destroys me and those with me, or shows us mercy, who will protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?"

29. Say, "He is the Most Merciful; we believe in Him, and in Him we place our trust. Soon you will know clearly who is truly misguided."

30. Say, "Consider this: if your water were to sink deep underground, who then could bring you flowing water?"
