In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. All praise belongs to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made darkness and light — yet those who disbelieve set up equals to their Lord.
2. He is the One Who created you from clay, then decreed a term for your lives, and another fixed term known only to Him — yet you doubt.
3. He is Allah in the heavens and on the earth. He knows your secrets and what you reveal openly, and He knows everything you earn.
4. Whenever a sign from their Lord comes to them, they turn away from it.
5. They have already rejected the truth when it came to them, but soon they will face the information of what they used to mock.
6. Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them? We had established them on earth more firmly than We have established you, sent abundant rain upon them from the sky, and made rivers flow beneath them. Yet We destroyed them for their sins, and raised up other generations after them.
7. Even if We had sent down to you a scripture written on parchment, and they touched it with their own hands, those who disbelieve would still say, "This is nothing but clear magic!"
8. They say, "Why has no angel been sent down to him?" But had We sent down an angel, the matter would have been settled immediately, and they would have been granted no further delay.
9. And even if We had sent an angel, We would have surely made him appear as a man, leaving them confused in the same doubts they already have.
10. Messengers before you were mocked as well, but those who ridiculed them were overtaken by the very punishment they used to mock.
11. Say, "Travel through the land, then observe how severe was the end of those who rejected the truth."
12. Say, "To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth?" Say, "To Allah alone. He has decreed mercy upon Himself. He will surely gather you all on the Day of Resurrection — there is no doubt about it. Those who have lost themselves, it is they who do not believe."
13. To Him belongs everything that dwells in the night and the day, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
14. Say, "Should I take anyone other than Allah as my protector — the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who feeds but is never fed?" Say, "I have been commanded to be the first to submit, and not to be among those who associate others with Him."
15. Say, "I truly fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."
16. Whoever is spared from it on that Day, has surely received His mercy — and that is the clearest triumph.
17. If Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it except Him. And if He touches you with good, He has power over all things.
18. He is the Supreme Master over His servants, and He is the All-Wise, the Fully Aware.
19. Say, "Whose testimony is greatest?" Say, "Allah is witness between you and me. This Quran has been revealed to me, so that I may warn you and whoever it reaches. Do you truly testify that there are other gods besides Allah?" Say, "I do not testify." Say, "He is only One God, and I am free of what you associate with Him."
20. Those to whom We gave the Scripture recognize it as clearly as they recognize their own children. Yet those who have lost themselves will never believe.
21. Who could be more unjust, than someone who invents lies about Allah, or denies His revelations? Truly, the wrongdoers will never succeed.
22. On the Day We gather them all together, We will say to those who associated others with Allah, "Where are those partners you used to claim?"
23. Then their only excuse will be to say, "By Allah, our Lord, we never associated others with Him!"
24. See how they lie against themselves, and how all they invented has abandoned them.
25. Among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed coverings over their hearts, preventing them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. Even if they saw every sign, they would not believe in it. When they come to argue with you, the disbelievers say, "These are nothing but ancient tales!"
26. They forbid others from it, and distance themselves from it — but they only destroy themselves, without realizing it.
27. If only you could see when they are made to stand before the Fire! They will cry out, "If only we could return! Then we would not deny the signs of our Lord, and we would surely be among the believers!"
28. Rather, what they used to hide before has now become clear to them. Even if they were returned, they would go back to the very things they were forbidden from. Surely, they are liars.
29. They say, "It is only our worldly life, and we will not be resurrected."
30. If only you could see when they are made to stand before their Lord! He will say, "Is this not the truth?" They will reply, "Yes, by our Lord!" He will say, "Then taste the punishment for your disbelief."
31. Truly, those who deny their meeting with Allah, have lost completely. When the Hour suddenly comes upon them, they will cry out, "Oh, how great is our regret for what we neglected in it!" They will carry their burdens on their backs — how terrible is the load they bear!
32. This worldly life is nothing but amusement and distraction. The Home of the Hereafter is far better for those who are mindful of Allah. Will you not then understand?
33. We certainly know that what they say grieves you deeply. Yet it is not you they reject; rather, it is the signs of Allah that the wrongdoers deny.
34. Messengers before you were also rejected, yet they patiently endured rejection and harm, until Our help came to them. No one can alter the words of Allah. Certainly, accounts of the messengers have already reached you.
35. If their turning away is too painful for you, then if you can, seek a tunnel into the earth, or a ladder into the sky, to bring them a sign. Had Allah willed, He would have gathered them all upon guidance — so never be among those who are ignorant.
36. Only those who listen will respond. As for the dead, Allah will raise them, and then to Him they will return.
37. They say, "Why hasn't a miracle been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Allah certainly has the power to send down a miracle, but most of them do not understand."
38. There is no creature moving on the earth, nor bird flying on its wings, except that they are communities like yourselves. We have neglected nothing in the Book. Then to their Lord they will be gathered.
39. Those who reject Our revelations are deaf and mute, in layers of darkness. Whomever Allah wills, He leaves astray, and whomever He wills, He places upon a straight path.
40. Say, "Tell me, if Allah's punishment came upon you, or the Hour overtook you, would you call upon anyone other than Allah, if you are truthful?"
41. No, it is Him alone you would call upon. Then, if He willed, He would remove what you called upon Him for, and you would forget whatever you associated with Him.
42. We certainly sent messengers to communities before you, and We afflicted them with hardship and suffering, so that they might humble themselves.
43. If only they had humbled themselves when Our punishment came to them! But their hearts hardened, and Satan made their deeds appear attractive to them.
44. Then, when they forgot the warnings they had received, We opened to them the gates of all things, until, as they rejoiced in what they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they fell into utter despair.
45. Thus, the last remnants of those who did wrong were wiped out. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds.
46. Say, "Tell me, if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed your hearts, what god other than Allah could restore them to you?" See how clearly We present the revelations, yet still they turn away.
47. Say, "Tell me, if Allah's punishment came upon you suddenly or openly, would anyone but the wrongdoing people be destroyed?"
48. We send messengers only as bearers of good news, and as warners. So whoever believes and sets things right, will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
49. But those who deny Our revelations will be touched by punishment, for their rebellious ways.
50. Say, "I do not claim to possess Allah's treasures, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Are the blind and the seeing equal? Will you not then reflect?"
51. Warn by it those who fear being gathered before their Lord, with no protector or intercessor besides Him, so that they may become mindful of Allah.
52. Do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face. You are not accountable for them in any way, nor are they accountable for you in any way. If you drive them away, you would become one of the unjust.
53. In this way, We test some people through others, so they say, "Are these the ones whom Allah has favored among us?" Does Allah not know best those who are truly grateful?
54. When those who believe in Our revelations come to you, say, "Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed mercy upon Himself: whoever among you commits evil out of ignorance, then repents afterward and makes amends — He is truly Forgiving, Merciful."
55. Thus We clearly explain the revelations, so that the path of the guilty may become evident.
56. Say, "I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides Allah." Say, "I will not follow your desires, for then I would surely go astray, and would not be among the rightly guided."
57. Say, "I stand upon clear evidence from my Lord, yet you deny it. What you impatiently demand is not within my power. Judgment belongs only to Allah. He declares the truth, and He is the best of judges."
58. Say, "If what you impatiently demand were within my power, the matter between you and me would already be settled. Allah knows best who the wrongdoers are."
59. With Him are the keys of the unseen — no one knows them except Him. He knows all that is on land and sea. Not a single leaf falls without His knowledge, nor is there a grain hidden in the darkness of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry, except that it is recorded in a clear Book.
60. He is the One Who takes your souls by night, and knows all that you have done by day. Then He raises you again each morning, until your appointed time arrives. Then to Him is your return, and He will inform you of all you used to do.
61. He is the Supreme Master over His servants, and He sends guardians to watch over you. When death comes to one of you, Our messengers take his soul, and they never fail in their duty.
62. Then they are returned to Allah, their true Lord. Truly, judgment belongs to Him alone, and He is the swiftest in taking account.
63. Say, "Who rescues you from the darkness of land and sea, when you call upon Him humbly and secretly, saying, 'If He saves us from this, we will surely be among the grateful'?"
64. Say, "It is Allah Who rescues you from this, and from every distress — yet afterward, you still associate others with Him."
65. Say, "He alone has the power to send punishment upon you, from above or beneath your feet, or to divide you into conflicting factions, and make you taste the violence of one another." See how clearly We explain the signs, so that they might understand.
66. Yet your people deny this, though it is the truth. Say, "I am not responsible for your affairs."
67. Every prophecy has its appointed time, and soon you will come to know.
68. When you see those who mockingly discuss Our revelations, turn away from them until they speak about something else. If Satan causes you to forget, then once you remember, do not sit with those unjust people.
69. Those who are mindful of Allah bear no responsibility for the wrongdoers' actions, but a reminder, so that they may become mindful.
70. Leave alone those who treat their religion as mere play and amusement, deceived by the life of this world. But remind them with this Quran, so that no soul is doomed by what it has earned, having no protector or intercessor besides Allah. Even if it offered every possible ransom, it would not be accepted. Such are those who are doomed by their own deeds. They will have boiling water to drink, and a painful punishment, because of their disbelief.
71. Say, "Should we call upon something other than Allah — something that neither benefits nor harms us — and turn back on our heels after Allah has guided us? Like someone whom devils have lured away, wandering lost on earth, though he has companions calling him to guidance, saying, 'Come to us!'" Say, "Allah's guidance is the only true guidance, and we have been commanded to submit ourselves to the Lord of all creation."
72. And to establish prayer, and be mindful of Him. It is to Him that you will all be gathered.
73. He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in truth. On the Day He says, "Be," it will be. His word is the truth. All authority belongs to Him on the Day the trumpet is blown. He knows the unseen and the seen, and He is the All-Wise, the All-Aware.
74. And remember when Abraham said to his father Azar, "Do you take idols as gods? Truly, I see you and your people clearly lost."
75. Thus We showed Abraham the empire of the heavens and the earth, so that he might become one of those with certain faith.
76. When night covered him, he saw a star and said, "This is my Lord." But when it set, he said, "I do not love things that set."
77. Then when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my Lord." But when it set, he said, "If my Lord does not guide me, I will surely be among those who go astray."
78. Then when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my Lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, I am free from whatever you associate with Allah."
79. "I have turned my face toward the One Who created the heavens and the earth, upright, and I am not among those who associate others with Him."
80. His people argued with him, and he said, "Do you argue with me about Allah, when He has guided me? I do not fear whatever you associate with Him, unless my Lord wills otherwise. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge. Will you not then reflect?"
81. "How could I fear what you associate with Him, while you yourselves do not fear associating with Allah things for which He has sent down no authority? Which of the two sides deserves to feel secure, if you truly know?"
82. Those who believe, and do not mix their faith with wrongdoing — it is they who will have security, and they are rightly guided.
83. This was Our argument, which We gave Abraham against his people. We elevate in rank whomever We will. Truly, your Lord is Wise, All-Knowing.
84. And We granted him Isaac and Jacob — each of them We guided. And before them, We guided Noah, and among his descendants: David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. This is how We reward those who do good.
85. And Zachariah, John, Jesus, and Elias — each was among the righteous.
86. And Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah, and Lot — each We favored above all people.
87. And from among their forefathers, their descendants, and their brothers — We chose them and guided them to a straight path.
88. This is Allah's guidance, by which He guides whomever He wills among His servants. Had they associated others with Him, all their deeds would have come to nothing.
89. These are the ones to whom We gave the Scripture, wisdom, and prophethood. But if these people reject them, We have entrusted it to a people who are not disbelievers in it.
90. These are the ones whom Allah has guided, so follow their guidance. Say, "I ask no reward from you for this. It is only a reminder for all people."
91. They have not honored Allah as He deserves when they say, "Allah has not revealed anything to any human being." Say, "Who then revealed the Scripture brought by Moses, as a light and guidance for people — which you write on scrolls, displaying some of it openly, but hiding much? You were taught what neither you, nor your forefathers knew." Say, "Allah," then leave them to amuse themselves with their idle talk.
92. And this is a blessed Book that We have revealed, confirming what came before it, so that you may warn the Mother of Cities, and all around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they carefully maintain their prayers.
93. Who could be more unjust than someone who invents lies about Allah, or says, "Revelation has come to me," when nothing has been revealed to him, or who claims, "I will reveal something like what Allah has revealed"? If only you could see the wrongdoers, in the throes of death, as the angels stretch out their hands, saying, "Release your souls! Today, you will be repaid with humiliating punishment, for speaking falsely about Allah, and arrogantly rejecting His revelations."
94. You have come to Us alone, just as We first created you, leaving behind all that We had given you. Nor do We see with you those intercessors whom you claimed were partners with Allah. All bonds between you have been severed, and all your claims have vanished from you.
95. Certainly, it is Allah Who splits open the seed and the fruit-stone, bringing forth the living from the dead, and the dead from the living. Such is Allah — how then can you be turned away?
96. He splits open the dawn, and has made the night for rest, and the sun and moon for measuring time. This is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
97. And it is He Who placed the stars for you, so you may find your way through the darkness of land and sea. Truly, We have made clear the signs for people who understand.
98. And it is He Who created you from a single soul, then gave you a place of settlement, and a place of storage. Truly, We have made clear the signs for people who comprehend.
99. And it is He Who sends down water from the sky. With it, We bring forth every kind of plant, producing green shoots, from which We bring out clustered grain. And from the date palm come clusters of dates hanging low, and gardens of grapes, olives, and pomegranates — alike yet different. Look carefully at their fruit as it grows and ripens. Truly, in these are signs for people who believe.
100. Yet they have made the jinn partners with Allah, though He created them, and fabricated sons and daughters to Him without knowledge. Glory be to Him! Exalted is He, far above what they describe.
101. He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a child, when He has no companion? He created all things, and He has full knowledge of everything.
102. Such is Allah, your Lord. There is no god but Him, the Creator of all things — so worship Him alone. He is the Guardian over everything.
103. No vision can grasp Him, yet He grasps all vision. He is the Most Subtle, the All-Aware.
104. Clear insights have now come to you from your Lord. Whoever chooses to see, it is for their own benefit; and whoever chooses blindness, it is to their own harm. I am not your keeper.
105. This is how We explain Our signs in various ways, so they may say, "You have studied," and so We may make it clear for people who understand.
106. Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord — there is no god but Him — and turn away from those who associate others with Him.
107. Had Allah willed, they would not have associated. We have not appointed you as their keeper, nor are you responsible for them.
108. Do not insult those they call upon besides Allah, lest they insult Allah out of hostility and ignorance. Thus We have made each people's deeds seem appealing to them. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them of all they used to do.
109. They swear by Allah with their strongest oaths, that if a miracle came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "Miracles are only with Allah." Yet what will make you perceive, that if it came, they still would not believe.
110. We turn their hearts and eyes, just as they did not believe in it the first time, so We leave them wandering blindly in their rebellion.
111. Even if We sent down angels to them, and the dead spoke to them, and We gathered all things before their very eyes, they still would not believe, unless Allah willed it. Yet most of them remain ignorant.
112. Likewise, We have appointed for every prophet enemies — devils among humans and jinn — who whisper to one another enticing words of deception. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done so. So leave them alone with their fabrications.
113. So that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may incline toward it, be pleased with it, and so that they may commit what they are committing.
114. Should I seek a judge other than Allah, when He is the One Who has sent down to you the Book, fully detailed? Those to whom We gave the Scripture know that it is truly revealed from your Lord. So do not be among those who doubt.
115. The Word of your Lord is perfected in truth and justice. None can alter His Words, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
116. If you obey most of those on earth, they will lead you away from Allah's path. They follow nothing but assumptions, and they merely guess.
117. Surely your Lord knows best who strays from His path, and He knows best who is rightly guided.
118. So eat from that over which Allah's name has been pronounced, if you truly believe in His revelations.
119. Why should you not eat from that over which Allah's name has been pronounced, when He has clearly explained to you what He has forbidden — except when compelled by necessity? Many mislead others by their own desires without knowledge. Truly, your Lord knows best those who transgress.
120. Avoid all sin — outward and inward. Those who commit sins will surely be repaid for what they have done.
121. Do not eat from anything over which Allah's name has not been mentioned, for that is truly sinful. The devils inspire their allies, urging them to argue with you. If you obey them, you will surely be associators.
122. Is one who was dead, then We gave him life, and a light by which he walks among people, like one who remains in deep darkness, never emerging from it? This is how the deeds of those who deny the truth are made appealing to them.
123. And thus We have placed in every town its greatest criminals, who plot within it. Yet they plot only against themselves, though they do not realize it.
124. When a sign comes to them, they say, "We will never believe until we are given something like what Allah's messengers were given." Allah knows best where to place His message. Those who commit crimes will soon suffer humiliation before Allah, and severe punishment for their plotting.
125. Whomever Allah wishes to guide, He opens his heart to submission. And whomever He wishes to leave astray, He makes his heart tight and constricted, as if he were climbing up into the sky. This is how Allah places defilement upon those who refuse to believe.
126. This is your Lord's straight path. We have clearly explained the revelations for people who reflect.
127. For them is the Home of Peace with their Lord, and He is their protector, because of what they used to do.
128. On the Day He gathers them all together, He will say, "O assembly of jinn, you have taken many from mankind." Their human allies will say, "Our Lord, we benefited from each other, and now we have reached the term You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your dwelling place, where you will remain forever, except as Allah wills. Truly, your Lord is Wise, All-Knowing."
129. Thus We make some wrongdoers allies of others, because of what they have earned.
130. "O assembly of jinn and humans, did messengers not come to you from among yourselves, reciting My revelations, and warning you of the meeting of this Day?" They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves." The worldly life deceived them, and they will testify against themselves that they were disbelievers.
131. This is because your Lord would never unjustly destroy towns, while their people were unaware.
132. For everyone there are ranks according to what they have done, and your Lord is never unaware of what they do.
133. Your Lord is Self-Sufficient, full of mercy. If He wills, He can remove you, and replace you with whomever He pleases, just as He raised you from the descendants of other people.
134. What you have been promised will surely come, and you cannot escape it.
135. Say, "My people, act according to your position; I am also acting. Soon you will know who will have the outcome of the Home. Truly, the wrongdoers will never succeed."
136. They assign to Allah a share from the crops and livestock He created, saying, according to their own claims, "This portion is for Allah, and this is for our partners." Yet whatever is meant for their partners never reaches Allah, while whatever is meant for Allah always reaches their partners. How terribly they judge!
137. Likewise, their partners have made the killing of their own children seem appealing to many idolaters, leading them to ruin and confusing them about their religion. Had Allah willed, they would not have done this — so leave them alone with their false inventions.
138. They say, "These livestock and crops are forbidden; none may eat them except those we allow," according to their own claims. And there are animals whose backs they forbid riding, and others over which they do not pronounce Allah's name — falsely attributing lies to Him. He will surely repay them for the lies they invent.
139. They also say, "Whatever is in the wombs of these animals, is reserved exclusively for our males, and forbidden to our wives. But if it is stillborn, then all may share in it." He will surely punish them for their false descriptions. Truly, He is Wise, All-Knowing.
140. Those who foolishly kill their children without knowledge, and forbid what Allah has provided them — falsely attributing lies to Allah — have certainly lost. They have gone astray, and are not rightly guided.
141. He is the One Who created gardens — both trellised and untrellised — date palms, crops of diverse flavors, olives, and pomegranates, similar yet different. Eat from their fruits when they bear fruit, and give what is due on harvest day. But do not be wasteful — He does not love those who waste.
142. Among livestock, are those suitable for carrying loads, and others for their meat and wool. Eat from what Allah has provided you, and do not follow Satan's footsteps. He is clearly your enemy.
143. Eight animals in pairs: two from sheep, and two from goats. Say, "Has He forbidden the two males, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you speak the truth."
144. And two from camels, and two from cattle. Say, "Has He forbidden the two males, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you present when Allah gave you these instructions?" Who could be more unjust than one who invents lies about Allah, to mislead people without knowledge? Certainly, Allah does not guide unjust people.
145. Say, "In what has been revealed to me, I find nothing forbidden for anyone to eat except carrion, flowing blood, pork — for it is impure — or sinful meat dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is compelled by necessity, neither desiring nor exceeding limits, then surely your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful."
146. To those who followed Judaism, We forbade every animal with claws. And from cattle and sheep, We forbade them their fat, except what clings to their backs or entrails, or what is mixed with bone. That is how We recompensed them for their transgression — and We are certainly truthful.
147. If they accuse you of lying, say, "Your Lord is full of boundless mercy, yet His punishment cannot be averted from those who are guilty."
148. Those who associate others with Allah will soon say, "If Allah had willed, neither we nor our ancestors would have worshiped others alongside Him, nor would we have forbidden anything." Those before them made similar false claims, until they tasted Our punishment. Say, "Do you have any knowledge you can show us? You follow nothing but assumptions, and you merely guess."
149. Say, "Allah alone has the decisive proof. Had He willed, He would have guided you all."
150. Say, "Bring forward your witnesses who can testify that Allah has forbidden this." If they testify, do not testify with them. Do not follow the desires of those who reject Our revelations, who do not believe in the Hereafter, and who set up equals with their Lord.
151. Say, "Come, let me recite what your Lord has forbidden you: Do not associate anything with Him; be good to your parents; do not kill your children out of poverty — We provide for you and for them; do not approach immoral acts, whether openly or secretly; and do not take a life that Allah has made sacred, except by right. This is what He commands you, so that you may understand."
152. Do not approach the orphan's property except in the best manner, until he reaches maturity. Give full measure and weight with fairness — We never burden any soul beyond its capacity. When you speak, be just, even if it concerns a close relative. Fulfill your covenant with Allah. This is what He commands you, so that you may remember.
153. And this is My path, straight and clear — so follow it. Do not follow other paths, for they will lead you away from His way. This is what He commands you, so that you may become mindful of Allah.
154. Then We gave Moses the Scripture, as a complete favor upon the one who did good, clearly explaining everything, as guidance and mercy, so that they might believe in meeting their Lord.
155. And this is a blessed Book that We have sent down — so follow it and be mindful of Allah, so that you may receive mercy.
156. Lest you say, "The Scripture was revealed only to two groups before us, and we were unaware of their teachings."
157. Or lest you say, "If only the Scripture had been revealed to us, we would have been better guided than they." Now clear proof has come to you from your Lord, along with guidance and mercy. Who could be more unjust than one who denies Allah's revelations, and turns away from them? We will repay those who turn away from Our revelations, with a severe punishment, for their turning away.
158. Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or for your Lord Himself to come, or for some of your Lord's signs to appear? On the Day when some of your Lord's signs appear, no soul will benefit from its faith, if it had not believed before, or had not earned any good through its faith. Say, "Wait, for we too are waiting."
159. Certainly, those who divided their religion and split into factions — you have nothing to do with them. Their case rests with Allah alone, and He will inform them of all they used to do.
160. Whoever comes with a good deed, will receive ten times its reward. But whoever comes with an evil deed, will be repaid only with its equivalent — they will not be wronged.
161. Say, "Surely, my Lord has guided me to a straight path — a true and upright religion — the faith of Abraham, who was devoted purely to Allah, and never among those who worshiped others beside Him."
162. Say, "My prayers and my sacrifices, my life and my death, are all for Allah, Lord of all the worlds."
163. He has no partner. This is what I have been commanded, and I am the first to submit to Him."
164. Say, "Should I seek a lord other than Allah, when He is Lord of everything? Each soul earns only against itself, and no bearer of burdens will carry the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about all that you used to dispute."
165. He is the One Who made you successors upon the earth, and raised some of you above others in ranks, to test you through what He has given you. Truly, your Lord is swift in punishment, yet He is surely Forgiving, Merciful.
