In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. Everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, for He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
2. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death, and He has power over all things.
3. He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, and He has full knowledge of everything.
4. He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself upon the Throne. He knows all that enters the earth and all that emerges from it, all that descends from the sky and all that ascends to it. And He is with you wherever you are, and Allah sees clearly all that you do.
5. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and all matters return to Allah.
6. He merges the night into the day and the day into the night, and He fully knows what lies within every heart.
7. Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and spend from what He has entrusted to your care. Those among you who believe and give generously will have a great reward.
8. What reason do you have not to believe in Allah, when the Messenger calls you to believe in your Lord, and He has already taken your pledge, if you truly are believers?
9. He is the One Who sends down clear revelations to His servant, to bring you out of darkness into the light. Truly, Allah is most kind and merciful to you.
10. And why should you not spend in the cause of Allah, while to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth? Those among you who spent and fought before the victory are not equal to those who spent and fought afterward. They are greater in rank than those who spent and fought later. Yet Allah has promised goodness to all, and Allah is fully aware of everything you do.
11. Who will lend Allah a goodly loan, so He may multiply it for him, granting him a noble reward?
12. On the Day you see believing men and women, their light shining ahead of them and on their right, they will be told, "Today, rejoice in gardens beneath which rivers flow, where you will remain forever." That is the supreme triumph.
13. On that Day, hypocritical men and women will say to the believers, "Wait for us! Let us borrow some of your light." They will be told, "Turn back and seek a light elsewhere." Then a wall with a gate will be placed between them; inside it is mercy, and outside it is punishment.
14. They will cry out to them, "Were we not with you?" The believers will reply, "Yes, but you deceived yourselves, hesitated, doubted, and false hopes misled you until Allah's command arrived. And the great deceiver deceived you about Allah."
15. So today, no ransom will be accepted from you or from those who disbelieved. Your home is the Fire; it is your only refuge — and what a miserable destination!
16. Hasn't the time come for those who believe to humble their hearts to the remembrance of Allah and the truth He has revealed, and not be like those who received the Scripture before them, whose hearts hardened after a long passage of time? Many of them became defiantly disobedient.
17. Know that Allah revives the earth after its death. We have made the signs clear for you, so that you may understand.
18. Truly, the charitable men and women who lend Allah a goodly loan — it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a generous reward.
19. Those who believe in Allah and His messengers, they are the truly sincere. And the witnesses will have their reward and their light with their Lord. But those who disbelieve and deny Our revelations — they are the companions of Hellfire.
20. Know that this worldly life is merely play and amusement, adornment, boasting among yourselves, and competition in wealth and children. It is like rain whose growth delights the disbelievers, but soon it withers, and you see it turn yellow, then crumble away. In the Hereafter, there is severe punishment, as well as forgiveness and approval from Allah. This worldly life is nothing but a deceptive enjoyment.
21. Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His messengers. That is Allah's grace, which He grants to whomever He wills. Allah is the Lord of immense grace.
22. No disaster strikes upon the earth or within yourselves except that it is recorded in a Book before We bring it into being. Surely, this is easy for Allah.
23. So that you neither grieve over what you have lost, nor exult over what He has given you. Allah does not love anyone who is arrogant and boastful.
24. Those who are stingy and encourage others toward stinginess. Whoever turns away should know that Allah alone is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.
25. Certainly, We sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and We sent down with them the Scripture and the Balance, so that people may uphold justice. And We sent down iron, in which there is great strength and many benefits for people, and so that Allah may know who supports Him and His messengers unseen. Truly, Allah is Powerful, Almighty.
26. And surely, We sent Noah and Abraham, and placed among their descendants prophethood and scripture. Some among them were rightly guided, but many were defiantly disobedient.
27. Then We sent Our messengers following in their footsteps, and We sent after them Jesus, son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him. As for monasticism, they invented it — We did not prescribe it for them — only seeking Allah's pleasure. Yet they did not observe it as it should have been observed. So We gave those among them who truly believed their reward, but many of them were defiantly disobedient.
28. O you who believe, be mindful of Allah and believe in His Messenger. He will grant you a double share of His mercy, provide you with a guiding light to walk by, and forgive you. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
29. So that the People of the Scripture may know that they have no control whatsoever over any part of Allah's grace, and that grace is entirely in Allah's Hand — He grants it to whomever He wills. And Allah is the Lord of immense grace.
