In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

1. When the Inevitable Event occurs.

2. No one can deny its occurrence.

3. Bringing some low, raising others high.

4. When the earth is shaken violently.

5. And the mountains crumble completely.

6. Becoming scattered dust.

7. You will be divided into three groups.

8. The people of the right — how blessed are the people of the right!

9. The people of the left — how miserable are the people of the left!

10. And the foremost — the foremost!

11. They are the ones brought nearest to Allah.

12. In Gardens of bliss.

13. Many from earlier generations.

14. And a few from later ones.

15. Resting on ornately lined couches.

16. Reclining face-to-face.

17. Immortal youths will move among them.

18. Serving cups, pitchers, and drinks of pure flowing wine.

19. Causing neither headache nor intoxication.

20. And fruits of their choosing.

21. And meat of any bird they desire.

22. And fair ones with wide, beautiful eyes.

23. Like pearls carefully preserved.

24. A reward for what they used to do.

25. There they will hear no idle talk nor sinful speech.

26. Only greetings of peace, peace.

27. And the people of the right — how blessed are the people of the right!

28. Amid thornless lote trees.

29. And banana trees with fruit in clusters.

30. And shade extended far and wide.

31. And water flowing abundantly.

32. And abundant fruits.

33. Never-ending, never forbidden.

34. And raised couches.

35. We have created them in a new creation.

36. And We made them virgins.

37. Loving and of equal age.

38. For the people of the right.

39. Many from earlier generations.

40. And many from later ones.

41. And the people of the left — how miserable are the people of the left!

42. In scorching winds and boiling water.

43. And under the shadow of black smoke.

44. Neither cool nor comforting.

45. Before this, they lived in luxury.

46. Persisting stubbornly in great wrongdoing.

47. And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, will we really be raised again?

48. And our forefathers too?"

49. Say, "Certainly, the earlier and later generations.

50. Will all be gathered at the appointed time of a known Day."

51. Then you, misguided deniers.

52. Will surely eat from the tree of Zaqqum.

53. Filling your bellies with it.

54. Then drinking boiling water on top of it.

55. Drinking like thirsty camels.

56. This is their hospitality on the Day of Judgment.

57. We created you — why then do you not believe?

58. Have you considered what you emit?

59. Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator?

60. We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone.

61. In replacing you with others like yourselves, and recreating you in forms unknown to you.

62. You have certainly known your first creation — why then do you not reflect?

63. Have you considered what you plant?

64. Is it you who make it grow, or are We the Grower?

65. If We willed, We could reduce it to dry debris, leaving you wondering.

66. Saying, "We are surely ruined!

67. Rather, we are utterly deprived!"

68. Have you considered the water you drink?

69. Is it you who send it down from the clouds, or are We the Sender?

70. If We willed, We could make it bitter — why then are you not grateful?

71. Have you considered the fire you kindle?

72. Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the Producer?

73. We made it a reminder and a comfort for travelers.

74. So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

75. No! I swear by the positions of the stars.

76. And truly, this is a mighty oath, if only you knew.

77. This is surely a noble Quran.

78. In a protected Book.

79. Which none touch except the purified.

80. A revelation from the Lord of all worlds.

81. Is it this message that you treat lightly?

82. And make its denial your livelihood?

83. Then why, when the soul reaches the throat.

84. And you are watching.

85. While We are nearer to him than you, though you do not perceive.

86. If you are not subject to judgment.

87. Then bring it back, if you speak the truth!

88. Now, if he is among those brought near to Allah.

89. Then for him is rest, fragrance, and a Garden of bliss.

90. And if he is among the companions of the right.

91. Then peace to you from the companions of the right.

92. But if he is among those who deny and stray.

93. Then his welcome is boiling water.

94. And burning in Hellfire.

95. Truly, this is the absolute truth.

96. So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
