In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

1. By the star when it falls.

2. Your companion has neither strayed nor erred.

3. Nor does he speak from his own desire.

4. It is nothing but a revelation revealed.

5. Taught to him by the one mighty in power.

6. Possessing great strength, who assumed his form.

7. While he was on the highest horizon.

8. Then he approached and came closer.

9. Until he was within two bow-lengths, or even nearer.

10. Then He revealed to His servant what He revealed.

11. The heart did not lie about what it saw.

12. Will you then dispute with him about what he saw?

13. And certainly, he saw him at another descent.

14. By the Lote Tree of the farthest boundary.

15. Near it is the Garden of Refuge.

16. When the Lote Tree was covered by what covered it.

17. His sight neither wandered nor exceeded its limit.

18. Truly, he saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord.

19. Have you considered Al-Lat and Al-Uzza?

20. And Manat, the third — the other?

21. Do you prefer sons for yourselves and attribute daughters to Him?

22. That, then, is an unjust division!

23. These are nothing but names you and your forefathers named, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow only assumptions and their own desires, though guidance from their Lord has surely come to them.

24. Or is the human being to have whatever he wishes?

25. Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and this world.

26. How many angels are there in the heavens whose intercession will avail nothing, except after Allah grants permission to whomever He wills and approves.

27. Those who do not believe in the Hereafter give the angels female names.

28. Yet they have no knowledge of this; they follow only assumptions, and assumptions can never replace the truth.

29. So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our remembrance and desires nothing but this worldly life.

30. That is the extent of their knowledge. Truly, your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who is rightly guided.

31. To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, so that He may repay those who do evil according to their deeds, and reward those who do good with the best reward.

32. Those who avoid major sins and shameful deeds — except for small lapses. Truly, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He knows you best, from when He created you from the earth and when you were embryos in your mothers' wombs. So do not claim purity for yourselves; He knows best who is mindful of Him.

33. Have you considered the one who turned away?

34. Who gave a little, then stopped?

35. Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees?

36. Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses?

37. And of Abraham, who fulfilled?

38. That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another.

39. And that a human being will have nothing except what he strives for.

40. And that his striving will soon be seen.

41. Then he will be repaid in full measure.

42. And that to your Lord is the final destination.

43. And that it is He Who makes one laugh and weep.

44. And that it is He Who causes death and gives life.

45. And that He created the two kinds — male and female.

46. From a drop emitted.

47. And that upon Him is the second creation.

48. And that it is He Who enriches and makes content.

49. And that it is He Who is Lord of Sirius.

50. And that He destroyed the first people of Aad.

51. And Thamud, sparing none.

52. And before them, the people of Noah — truly, they were even more unjust and rebellious.

53. And He overturned the ruined cities.

54. And covered them with what covered them.

55. So which of your Lord's favors do you doubt?

56. This is a warning like those warnings of old.

57. The approaching Hour draws near.

58. None can uncover it except Allah.

59. Do you then marvel at this message?

60. Laughing instead of weeping?

61. Lost in careless amusement?

62. So bow down before Allah, and worship Him.
