In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

1. By the Mount.

2. And by a Book inscribed.

3. On parchment unfolded.

4. And by the House frequently visited.

5. And by the raised canopy.

6. And by the overflowing sea.

7. Your Lord's punishment will surely come.

8. Nothing can prevent it.

9. On the Day when the sky sways violently.

10. And the mountains move swiftly away.

11. On that Day, woe to those who deny the truth.

12. Those who amuse themselves in idle talk.

13. On the Day they are thrust forcefully into Hellfire.

14. "This is the Fire you used to deny!

15. Is this magic, or can you not see?

16. Enter it now! Whether you endure patiently or not, it makes no difference — you are only being repaid for what you used to do."

17. The righteous will be in Gardens and bliss.

18. Delighting in what their Lord has given them, and their Lord has protected them from the torment of Hellfire.

19. "Eat and drink joyfully, as a reward for what you used to do."

20. Reclining comfortably on arranged couches; and We will wed them to companions of pure, lovely eyes.

21. And those who believed, whose descendants followed them in faith — We will reunite them with their descendants, and We will not diminish the reward of their deeds in any way. Each person is bound by what they have earned.

22. And We will provide them abundantly with fruits and meat, whatever they desire.

23. There they will pass around a cup, free from idle talk and sinfulness.

24. And serving them will be youths for them, like pearls carefully preserved.

25. They will turn to one another, asking questions.

26. They will say, "Before this, among our families, we used to be anxious and fearful.

27. But Allah has been gracious to us and protected us from the torment of scorching winds.

28. Before, we used to call upon Him. He is the Most Kind, the Most Merciful."

29. So remind them, for by the grace of your Lord, you are neither a fortune-teller nor a madman.

30. Or do they say, "He is a poet — we await some misfortune of fate to befall him"?

31. Say, "Wait then — I too am waiting along with you."

32. Is it their minds that prompt them to say this, or are they simply a rebellious people?

33. Or do they say, "He has invented it"? Rather, they refuse to believe.

34. Then let them produce a message like it, if they are truthful.

35. Were they created from nothing, or are they themselves the creators?

36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they have no certainty.

37. Or do they possess the treasures of your Lord, or do they have control over them?

38. Or do they have a ladder by which they listen in? Then let their listener bring clear proof.

39. Or does He have daughters while you have sons?

40. Or do you ask them for payment, burdening them with debt?

41. Or do they have knowledge of the unseen, so they write it down?

42. Or do they intend a plot? But those who disbelieve are themselves the ones plotted against.

43. Or do they have a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah, far above what they associate with Him!

44. Even if they saw a piece of the sky falling down, they would say, "It's just piled-up clouds."

45. So leave them until they meet their Day, when they will be struck down.

46. The Day when their plotting will not help them at all, nor will they be aided.

47. And surely, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment before that — but most of them do not know.

48. So be patient with your Lord's decree, for you are under Our watchful care. And glorify your Lord with praise whenever you rise.

49. And glorify Him during the night — and at the fading of the stars.
