In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. Ha. Meem.
2. Ayn. Seen. Qaf.
3. Thus does Allah, the Almighty, the Wise, reveal to you and to those before you.
4. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and He is the Most High, the Magnificent.
5. The heavens nearly burst apart from above, while the angels glorify their Lord with praise and seek forgiveness for those on earth. Truly, Allah alone is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
6. As for those who take protectors besides Him, Allah Himself watches over them — and you are not in charge of them.
7. And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Quran, so that you may warn the Mother of Cities and all around it, and warn of the Day of Gathering — about which there is no doubt — when one group will be in Paradise and another in the blazing Fire.
8. Had Allah willed, He could have made them all one community, but He admits into His mercy whomever He wills. As for the wrongdoers, they will have neither protector nor helper.
9. Or have they taken protectors besides Him? Yet Allah alone is the true Protector — He gives life to the dead, and He has power over all things.
10. Whatever you differ about, its judgment rests with Allah. "Such is Allah, my Lord — in Him I place my trust, and to Him I turn in repentance."
11. Creator of the heavens and the earth, He has made for you spouses from among yourselves, and pairs among the animals, multiplying you thereby. There is nothing like Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
12. To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He grants abundant provision to whomever He wills, and restricts it. Truly, He has full knowledge of all things.
13. He has ordained for you the same religion He enjoined upon Noah, and what We have revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: "Establish the religion, and do not become divided in it." What you call them to is difficult for those who worship others besides Allah. Allah chooses for Himself whomever He wills, and guides to Himself whoever turns to Him sincerely.
14. They became divided only after knowledge had come to them, out of rivalry among themselves. Had it not been for a prior word from your Lord, set to an appointed time, the matter would have been settled between them. Indeed, those who inherited the Scripture after them remain in troubling doubt about it.
15. So invite to this, and remain steadfast as you have been commanded. Do not follow their desires, but say, "I believe in whatever Scripture Allah has revealed, and I have been commanded to be just among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. We have our deeds, and you have your deeds. There is no argument between us and you. Allah will gather us all together, and to Him is the final return."
16. As for those who argue about Allah after He has been responded to, their arguments are worthless in the sight of their Lord. Upon them is wrath, and theirs will be a severe punishment.
17. Allah is the One Who sent down the Scripture with truth and the balance of justice. And what will make you realize? Perhaps the Hour is near.
18. Those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it, while those who believe are fearful of it, knowing it is the truth. Truly, those who dispute about the Hour have strayed far into error.
19. Allah is gentle with His servants; He provides for whomever He wills. He is the Powerful, the Almighty.
20. Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter, We will increase their harvest; and whoever desires the harvest of this world, We will grant them some of it — but they will have no share in the Hereafter.
21. Or do they have partners who have ordained for them a religion that Allah has not permitted? Were it not for the decisive decree, judgment would have already been passed between them. Certainly, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment.
22. You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they have earned, and it will surely befall them. But those who believe and do righteous deeds will be in lush gardens of Paradise; they will have whatever they wish from their Lord. That is the supreme favor.
23. This is the good news Allah gives to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, "I ask no reward from you for this, except love for relatives." Whoever does a good deed, We will increase its goodness for them. Allah is Forgiving, Appreciative.
24. Or do they say, "He has fabricated lies about Allah"? If Allah willed, He could seal your heart. But Allah wipes out falsehood and establishes the truth by His words. He knows well what lies within hearts.
25. He is the One Who accepts repentance from His servants, pardons their misdeeds, and knows all that you do.
26. He answers the prayers of those who believe and do righteous deeds, and grants them even more from His bounty. But for the disbelievers, there will be a severe punishment.
27. If Allah were to grant abundant provision to His servants, they would surely transgress throughout the earth. But He sends down provision in due measure as He wills. Truly, He is fully aware and watchful of His servants.
28. He is the One Who sends down rain after they have lost all hope, spreading His mercy. He is the Guardian, the Praiseworthy.
29. Among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and all the living creatures He has scattered throughout them. And He is fully capable of gathering them all whenever He wills.
30. Whatever misfortune befalls you, is due to what your own hands have earned, yet He pardons much.
31. You cannot escape Him anywhere on earth, and besides Allah, you have neither protector nor helper.
32. Among His signs are the ships sailing across the sea like mountains.
33. If He wills, He calms the wind, leaving them motionless upon its surface. Surely, in this are signs for everyone patient and deeply grateful.
34. Or He could destroy them for what they have earned — yet He pardons much.
35. So that those who dispute Our signs may know that they have no escape.
36. Whatever you have been given is merely enjoyment of this worldly life. But what is with Allah is far better and everlasting — for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord.
37. Those who avoid major sins and shameful deeds, and who forgive when angered.
38. Those who respond to their Lord, establish prayer, conduct their affairs by mutual consultation, and give from what We have provided them.
39. And those who, when wronged, defend themselves.
40. The repayment for an evil deed is an equivalent evil. But whoever pardons and makes things right — his reward is with Allah. Surely, Allah does not love the unjust.
41. But whoever defends himself after being wronged — there is no blame upon them.
42. Blame lies only upon those who oppress people and unjustly spread corruption on earth. For them is a painful punishment.
43. Yet whoever patiently endures and forgives — this is surely a matter of strong resolve.
44. Whoever Allah leaves astray will have no protector after Him. You will see the wrongdoers, when they witness the punishment, pleading, "Is there any way to return?"
45. You will see them brought before it, humbled and disgraced, glancing secretly from the corners of their eyes. Then the believers will say, "The losers are those who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection." Certainly, the wrongdoers will endure everlasting punishment.
46. They will have no protectors to help them besides Allah. Whoever Allah leaves astray will find no way.
47. Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allah that cannot be turned back. On that Day, you will have no refuge, nor will you be able to deny.
48. But if they turn away, We have not sent you as their keeper. Your duty is only to deliver the message. When We let a human being taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it. Yet if hardship strikes them because of what their own hands have done, then the human being becomes ungrateful.
49. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates whatever He wills. He grants daughters to whomever He wills, and He grants sons to whomever He wills.
50. Or He gives both sons and daughters, and He makes whomever He wills unable to have children. He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.
51. It is not fitting for any human being that Allah should speak to him, except through revelation, or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger to reveal, by His permission, whatever He wills. He is Most High, Most Wise.
52. And so We have revealed to you an inspiration by Our command. You did not know what the Scripture was, nor what faith was, but We made it a light by which We guide whichever of Our servants We will. Certainly, you guide to a straight path.
53. The path of Allah, to Whom belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Surely, all matters return to Allah.
