In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. Ha. Meem.
2. A revelation sent down from the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
3. A Book whose verses have been clearly explained, an Arabic Quran for a people who know.
4. Bringing good news and giving warning. Yet most of them turn away, so they do not hear.
5. They say, "Our hearts are covered against what you call us to, our ears are deaf to it, and between us and you is a barrier. So do as you wish, and we will do as we wish."
6. Say, "I am only a human being like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path toward Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Him.
7. Those who do not give charity and who deny the Hereafter.
8. Certainly, those who believe and do righteous deeds will have a reward that never ends.
9. Say, "Do you deny the One Who created the earth in two days, and you set up rivals for Him? That is the Lord of the worlds."
10. He placed firm mountains upon it, blessed it, and measured out its sustenance in four days, equally for those who ask.
11. Then He turned toward the heaven while it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth, "Come willingly or unwillingly." They replied, "We come willingly."
12. So He completed them as seven heavens in two days, and He revealed in each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and made it secure. Such is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
13. But if they turn away, then say, "I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt that struck Aad and Thamud."
14. When messengers came to them from before and behind, saying, "Worship none but Allah," they replied, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down angels. We reject the message you bring."
15. As for Aad, they arrogantly boasted on earth without right, saying, "Who is mightier than us in strength?" Did they not realize that Allah, Who created them, is far mightier than they? Yet they continued to deny Our signs.
16. So We sent against them a furious wind through days of misfortune, to make them taste humiliating punishment in this worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is even more humiliating, and they will never be helped.
17. As for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance. So the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.
18. And We saved those who believed and were mindful of Allah.
19. On the Day when Allah's enemies are gathered toward the Fire, they will be driven onward.
20. Until, when they reach it, their hearing, their sight, and their very skins will testify against them about what they used to do.
21. They will say to their skins, "Why have you testified against us?" Their skins will reply, "Allah, Who makes all things speak, has made us speak. He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned."
22. You did not seek to conceal yourselves lest your hearing, your sight, or your skins testify against you. Rather, you thought that Allah did not know much of what you were doing.
23. And that very thought you had about your Lord has ruined you, and now you are among the losers.
24. Even if they endure patiently, the Fire will still be their home. And if they seek to appease, they will not be allowed to do so.
25. We assigned companions for them, who made attractive to them what is before them and what is behind them. Thus, the decree against them was fulfilled, as it was for communities of jinn and humans who passed away before them. Truly, they were all losers.
26. Those who disbelieve say, "Do not listen to this Quran, and make noise during its recitation, so that you may overcome it."
27. We will certainly make those who disbelieve taste a severe punishment, and We will surely repay them according to the worst of their deeds.
28. That is the repayment for Allah's enemies — the Fire. In it will be their eternal home, as a recompense for their denial of Our signs.
29. Those who disbelieve will say, "Our Lord, show us those among jinn and humans who led us astray. We will trample them beneath our feet, so they become the lowest of all."
30. Surely, those who say, "Our Lord is Allah," and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, saying, "Do not fear, nor grieve, but rejoice in the Paradise you have been promised.
31. We are your protectors in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. There you will have whatever your souls desire, and there you will have whatever you ask for.
32. A gracious welcome from the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful."
33. Who speaks better than one who calls others to Allah, does good deeds, and declares, "I am among those who submit"?
34. Good and evil can never be equal. Respond to evil with what is better, and suddenly, the one who was your enemy will become like a close and devoted friend.
35. Yet none attain this except those who patiently persevere; none achieve it except those greatly blessed.
36. And if Satan ever tempts you, seek refuge in Allah. He alone is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
37. Among His signs are the night and the day, the sun and the moon. Do not bow down to the sun or the moon, but bow down to Allah, Who created them, if it is truly Him you worship.
38. But if they are too proud, those who are with your Lord glorify Him night and day — never growing weary.
39. Among His signs is that you see the earth dry and lifeless, yet when We send down rain upon it, it stirs and swells with life. Surely, the One Who revives it can certainly bring the dead back to life. He has power over all things.
40. Those who distort Our revelations are not hidden from Us. Who is better — the one thrown into the Fire, or the one who comes safely on the Day of Resurrection? Do whatever you wish; He sees clearly all that you do.
41. Those who reject the Reminder when it comes to them — it is a mighty Book.
42. Falsehood cannot approach it, neither from before it nor from behind. It is a revelation sent down by One Most Wise, Most Praiseworthy.
43. Nothing is said to you except what was said to the messengers before you. Your Lord is the Possessor of forgiveness, and the Possessor of a painful punishment.
44. If We had made it a Quran in a foreign language, they would have surely said, "Why aren't its verses clearly explained? In a foreign language, yet an Arab?" Say, "For those who believe, it is guidance and healing. But for those who do not believe, there is a heaviness in their ears, and it is blindness for them. They are called from a distant place."
45. Certainly, We gave Moses the Scripture, but disputes arose about it. Had it not been for a prior decree from your Lord, the matter would have been settled between them. Yet they remain in troubling doubt about it.
46. Whoever does good, it is for their own benefit; and whoever does evil, it is to their own harm. Your Lord is never unjust to His servants.
47. To Him alone belongs knowledge of the Hour. No fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does any female conceive or give birth, except by His knowledge. On the Day He calls out to them, "Where are My partners?" they will reply, "We declare to You that none of us is a witness."
48. Whatever they used to call upon before will vanish from them, and they will realize there is no escape.
49. The human being never tires of asking for good things, but if hardship touches him, he becomes utterly hopeless and despairing.
50. And if We let him taste mercy from Us, after hardship has touched him, he surely says, "This is for me. I don't think the Hour will ever come, and even if I am returned to my Lord, I will surely have the best with Him." We will certainly inform those who disbelieved of all they did, and We will surely make them taste a harsh punishment.
51. When We bless the human being, he turns away and distances himself. But when hardship touches him, he offers long and fervent prayers.
52. Say, "Consider this: if it truly is from Allah and yet you reject it, who could be more astray than someone who stubbornly opposes it?"
53. We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves, until it becomes clear to them that this is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord witnesses everything?
54. Truly, they remain in doubt about meeting their Lord. Yet surely, He encompasses all things.
