In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. The revelation of this Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise.
2. Certainly, We have sent down the Book to you in truth — so worship Allah, devoting your faith sincerely to Him alone.
3. Truly, sincere devotion belongs only to Allah. Yet those who take protectors besides Him say, "We worship them only so they may bring us closer to Allah." Allah will judge between them regarding their disputes. Surely, Allah does not guide anyone who is a liar and ungrateful.
4. Had Allah wished to take a child, He could have chosen anyone He willed from His creation. Glory be to Him! He is Allah, the One, the Supreme Conqueror.
5. He created the heavens and the earth in truth. He wraps the night around the day, and wraps the day around the night. He has subjected the sun and the moon, each running its course for an appointed term. Truly, He is the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving.
6. He created you from a single soul, then made from it its mate, and sent down for you eight pairs of livestock. He creates you in your mothers' wombs, stage after stage, within three layers of darkness. Such is Allah, your Lord — to Him belongs all sovereignty. There is no god but Him. How then can you turn away?
7. If you disbelieve, Allah has no need of you — yet He does not approve disbelief for His servants. But if you are grateful, He approves it for you. No soul will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of all you used to do. Truly, He knows well what lies within hearts.
8. When harm touches a human being, he calls upon his Lord, turning sincerely to Him. But once He grants him a favor from Himself, he forgets the One he had called upon before. And he sets up rivals to Allah, so as to mislead from His path. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a short while — you are surely among the companions of the Fire."
9. Is one who devoutly worships during the hours of the night, prostrating and standing, mindful of the Hereafter and hoping for his Lord's mercy, equal to one who does not? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only people of understanding take heed.
10. Say, "O My servants who believe, be mindful of your Lord. For those who do good in this world, there is goodness — and Allah's earth is spacious. Truly, those who patiently persevere will receive their reward without measure."
11. Say, "I have been commanded to worship Allah, devoting my faith sincerely to Him alone."
12. "And I have been commanded to be the first among those who submit."
13. Say, "I truly fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."
14. Say, "It is Allah alone I worship, devoting my faith sincerely to Him."
15. "So worship what you will besides Him." Say, "Truly, the losers are those who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, that is the clearest loss."
16. Above them will be layers of fire, and beneath them layers as well. This is how Allah warns His servants. My servants, fear Me!
17. But those who shun false gods, refusing to worship them, and turn wholeheartedly to Allah — they will have glad tidings. So give good news to My servants.
18. Those who listen carefully to what is said, and follow the best of it. These are the ones whom Allah has guided; these are the people of true understanding.
19. Is someone against whom the word of punishment is justified? So can you rescue someone in the Fire?
20. But those who are mindful of their Lord will have mansions, built one above another, beneath which rivers flow. This is Allah's promise — Allah never breaks His promise.
21. Do you not see how Allah sends down water from the sky, causing it to flow as springs within the earth, then brings forth crops of various colors? Later they wither, and you see them turn yellow, then He reduces them to dry debris. Truly, in this is a reminder for people of understanding.
22. Is someone whose heart Allah has opened to Islam, so he is upon a light from his Lord? Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against Allah's remembrance — they are clearly lost.
23. Allah has revealed the most beautiful message — a Scripture consistent and repeating, causing the skin of those who fear their Lord to shiver, then their skin and hearts soften at the remembrance of Allah. This is Allah's guidance, by which He guides whoever He wills. But whoever Allah leaves astray will have no guide.
24. What about the one who shields himself with his own face against the terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection? It will be said to the wrongdoers, "Taste what you have earned!"
25. Those before them also denied the truth, so punishment came upon them from where they least expected.
26. Allah made them taste humiliation in this worldly life, but the punishment of the Hereafter is far greater — if only they knew!
27. We have certainly presented every kind of example for people in this Quran, so that they might reflect.
28. A Quran in clear Arabic, free from any crookedness, so that they might become mindful of Allah.
29. Allah presents an example: a man owned by quarreling partners, and another man belonging entirely to one master. Are these two equal in comparison? All praise belongs to Allah! Yet most of them do not understand.
30. You will surely die, and they too will surely die.
31. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will dispute before your Lord.
32. Who could be more unjust than one who lies about Allah, and rejects the truth when it comes to him? Is Hell not the fitting home for those who deny?
33. But the one who brings the truth, and affirmed it as true — these are the ones truly mindful of Allah.
34. With their Lord, they will have whatever they desire. Such is the reward of those who do good.
35. So that Allah may erase from them the worst of their deeds and reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
36. Is Allah not enough for His servant? Yet they try to frighten you with others besides Him. Whomever Allah allows to stray, no one can guide.
37. And whomever Allah guides, no one can lead astray. Is Allah not Almighty, capable of retribution?
38. If you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will surely say, "Allah." Say, "Then consider those you call upon besides Allah: if Allah intends harm for me, could they remove His harm? Or if He intends mercy for me, could they withhold His mercy?" Say, "Allah is enough for me. In Him alone do those who trust place their trust."
39. Say, "My people, act according to your position; I too am acting. Soon you will know.
40. Who will receive a humiliating punishment, and upon whom an everlasting torment will descend."
41. We have sent down to you the Book for all people, with truth. Whoever chooses guidance does so for their own benefit, and whoever goes astray harms only themselves. You are not responsible for them.
42. Allah takes souls at the time of their death, and those who have not died during their sleep. He keeps those for whom death has been decreed, and returns the others until their appointed time. Surely, in this are signs for people who reflect.
43. Or have they taken intercessors besides Allah? Say, "Even though they have no power at all and no understanding?"
44. Say, "All intercession belongs to Allah alone. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and to Him you will all return."
45. When Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with disgust. But when others besides Him are mentioned, they rejoice.
46. Say, "O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You alone will judge between Your servants regarding all that they differed about."
47. If those who did wrong possessed everything on earth — and as much again — they would surely offer it as ransom to escape the terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection. But there will appear to them from Allah what they never imagined.
48. The evil consequences of their deeds will become clear to them, and the very punishment they used to mock will surround them.
49. When harm touches a human being, he calls upon Us; yet when We grant him a blessing from Our grace, he says, "I received this because of my own knowledge." Rather, it is a test — but most of them do not realize it.
50. Those before them said the same thing, but their achievements did not benefit them at all.
51. So the evil consequences of their deeds overtook them. And those among these people who do wrong — the evil consequences of their deeds will surely overtake them as well, and they cannot escape.
52. Do they not know that Allah gives abundantly to whomever He wills and restricts it? Truly, in this are signs for people who believe.
53. Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful."
54. Turn back to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you — then you will not be helped.
55. Follow the best of what has been revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment suddenly overtakes you, while you are unaware.
56. Lest a soul should say, "How deep is my regret for neglecting my duty toward Allah! Truly, I was among those who mocked."
57. Or it might say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would surely have been among the righteous."
58. Or it might say, upon seeing the punishment, "If only I had another chance, I would surely be among those who do good."
59. Yes indeed! My revelations came to you, but you rejected them, acted arrogantly, and were among those who refused to believe.
60. On the Day of Resurrection, you will see those who lied about Allah — their faces darkened. Is Hell not the proper home for the arrogant?
61. But Allah will save those who were mindful of Him, by their success. No harm will touch them, nor will they grieve.
62. Allah is the Creator of everything, and He alone watches over all things.
63. To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. Those who reject Allah's revelations — they are the true losers.
64. Say, "Do you really command me to worship someone other than Allah, you ignorant ones?"
65. It has already been revealed to you, and to those before you, that if you associate others with Allah, your deeds will surely become worthless, and you will certainly be among the losers.
66. Rather, worship Allah alone, and be among those who are grateful.
67. They have not honored Allah as He truly deserves. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grasp, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Glory be to Him! Exalted is He far above whatever they associate with Him.
68. The Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and on the earth will fall unconscious, except those whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will stand, looking on.
69. The earth will shine brightly with the light of its Lord. The Record will be laid open, the prophets and witnesses will be brought, and judgment will be passed among them with perfect justice — they will not be wronged.
70. Every soul will be fully repaid for what it has done, for He knows best all that they do.
71. Those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups. When they arrive, its gates will open, and its keepers will say to them, "Did messengers from among yourselves not come to you, reciting your Lord's revelations and warning you of this Day?" They will reply, "Yes, but the decree of punishment has come true against the disbelievers."
72. It will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell, to remain there forever." What a miserable home for the arrogant!
73. And those who were mindful of their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups. When they arrive, its gates will open, and its keepers will say to them, "Peace be upon you! You have done well, so enter it, to remain forever."
74. They will say, "All praise belongs to Allah, Who has fulfilled His promise to us and granted us this land, letting us settle in Paradise wherever we wish." How excellent is the reward of those who worked righteousness!
75. You will see the angels surrounding the Throne, glorifying their Lord with praise. Judgment will be passed among all with perfect justice, and it will be said, "All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds!"
