In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. All praise belongs to Allah, to Whom belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth; and to Him alone belongs all praise in the Hereafter. He is the All-Wise, the All-Aware.
2. He knows all that enters the earth, and all that emerges from it, all that descends from the sky, and all that ascends to it. He is the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving.
3. Those who disbelieve say, "The Hour will never come to us." Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you — by Him Who knows the unseen. Not even the weight of a speck of dust escapes Him, neither in the heavens nor on earth, nor anything smaller or greater than that, except that it is recorded in a clear Book."
4. So that He may reward those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is forgiveness, and a generous provision.
5. But those who strive against Our revelations, seeking to undermine — those will suffer a painful punishment from a severe torment.
6. Those who have been given knowledge clearly see that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and that it guides to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.
7. Yet the disbelievers say mockingly, "Shall we show you a man who claims that when you have been utterly torn apart, you will be created anew?"
8. Has he invented a lie against Allah, or is he insane? No, rather those who refuse to believe in the Hereafter are themselves in torment, and far astray.
9. Do they not see all that surrounds them in the heavens and the earth, before them and behind them? If We wished, We could cause the earth to swallow them, or let fragments from the sky fall upon them. Truly, in this is a clear sign for every servant who turns back to Allah.
10. Certainly, We granted David great favor from Us, saying, "O mountains, echo his praises, and you birds as well." And We made iron soft for him.
11. Saying, "Make coats of armor, carefully measuring the links, and do righteous deeds. Truly, I see all that you do."
12. And to Solomon, We subjected the wind — its morning journey was a month's distance, and its evening journey was a month's distance. And We caused a spring of molten copper to flow for him. Among the jinn were those who worked before him by his Lord's permission. Whoever among them deviated from Our command, We made him taste the torment of blazing fire.
13. They made for him whatever he desired — sanctuaries, statues, large basins like reservoirs, and firmly fixed cooking pots. "Work gratefully, O family of David!" Yet few of My servants are truly grateful.
14. Then, when We decreed death for him, nothing revealed his death to them, except a creature of the earth gnawing away at his staff. When he finally collapsed, the jinn realized clearly that if they had truly known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating torment.
15. Certainly, there was a clear sign for Sheba in their homeland: two lush gardens, one on the right, and one on the left. "Eat from the provision of your Lord, and be grateful to Him — a good land, and a forgiving Lord."
16. But they turned away, so We sent against them a devastating flood, and replaced their two gardens with others bearing bitter fruit, thorny shrubs, and a few sparse lote trees.
17. This is how We repaid them for their ingratitude. Do We ever punish anyone but the utterly ungrateful?
18. Between them and the towns We had blessed, We placed visible settlements, and made travel easy between them. Travel through them, by night and day in safety.
19. Yet they said, "Our Lord, make our journeys longer," and thus wronged themselves. So We made them mere tales, scattering them completely. Truly, in this are signs for everyone who is patient and deeply grateful.
20. Satan's assumption about them proved true, for they followed him — except for a group of believers.
21. Yet he had no authority over them, except that We might distinguish those who truly believe in the Hereafter, from those who doubt it. And your Lord watches carefully over all things.
22. Say, "Call upon those you claim besides Allah. They do not possess even an atom's weight in the heavens or the earth, nor do they have any share in them, nor is any of them a helper to Him."
23. No intercession before Him will benefit anyone, except those He permits. When fear is lifted from their hearts, they will ask, "What did your Lord say?" They will reply, "The truth." And He is the Most High, the Supreme.
24. Say, "Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allah. Surely, either we or you are upon guidance, or in clear error."
25. Say, "You will not be questioned about our wrongs, nor will we be questioned about what you do."
26. Say, "Our Lord will gather us together, then He will judge between us with truth. He is the All-Knowing Judge."
27. Say, "Show me those you have joined with Him as partners. Certainly not! Rather, He alone is Allah — the Almighty, the All-Wise."
28. We sent you only as a bearer of good news, and a warner, to all humankind, but most people do not know.
29. They ask, "When will this promise come true, if you are truthful?"
30. Say, "Your appointment is for a Day you cannot delay by even an hour, nor can you hasten it."
31. Those who disbelieve say, "We will never believe in this Quran, nor in what came before it." If only you could see, when the wrongdoers stand before their Lord, blaming one another. Those who were oppressed will say to the arrogant, "If not for you, we would surely have believed."
32. The arrogant will reply to the oppressed, "Did we prevent you from guidance after it had come to you? No — you yourselves were guilty."
33. The oppressed will say to the arrogant, "Rather, it was your plotting by night and day. You commanded us to reject Allah, and set up rivals to Him." They will conceal their regret when they see the punishment. And We will place shackles around the necks of those who disbelieved. Are they repaid except for what they used to do?
34. Whenever We sent a warner to a town, its wealthy elite would say, "We reject the message you bring."
35. They would say, "We have more wealth and children, and we will never be punished."
36. Say, "My Lord gives abundant provision to whomever He wills, and restricts it, but most people do not understand."
37. It is neither your wealth nor your children that bring you closer to Us, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them, there will be a multiplied reward for what they did, and they will dwell securely in lofty chambers.
38. But those who strive against Our revelations, seeking to undermine them — they will be brought into the punishment.
39. Say, "My Lord grants provision abundantly to whomever He wills among His servants, and restricts it for whomever He wills. Whatever you spend in charity, He will replace it, for He is the best of providers."
40. On the Day He gathers them all together, He will say to the angels, "Was it you these people worshiped?"
41. They will reply, "Glory be to You! You are our Protector, not them. Rather, they worshiped the jinn — most of them were believers in them."
42. Today, none of you can benefit or harm one another. And We will say to those who did wrong, "Taste the torment of the Fire, which you used to deny."
43. When Our clear revelations are recited to them, they say, "This is only a man who wants to turn you away from what your forefathers worshiped." And they say, "This is nothing but a fabricated lie." And when the truth comes to those who disbelieve, they say, "This is clearly nothing but magic."
44. Yet We had not given them any scriptures to study, nor had We sent them any warner before you.
45. Those before them also rejected the truth, though they did not reach even a tenth of what We had given them. Yet they denied My messengers — so how severe was My condemnation!
46. Say, "I advise you to do just one thing: stand before Allah, in pairs or alone, and reflect deeply — your companion is not mad; he is only a warner to you before a severe punishment."
47. Say, "Whatever reward I might have asked of you is yours to keep. My reward comes only from Allah, and He is Witness over all things."
48. Say, "My Lord hurls forth the truth — He is the Knower of all unseen things."
49. Say, "The truth has come; falsehood can neither originate nor restore."
50. Say, "If I go astray, I stray only to my own loss; but if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. He is All-Hearing, Ever-Near."
51. If only you could see, when they are seized with terror — there will be no escape, and they will be taken from a place nearby.
52. Then they will say, "We believe in it now!" But how could they possibly grasp it from such a distant place?
53. They had already rejected it before, throwing guesses about the unseen from far away.
54. A barrier will be placed between them and what they desire, just as was done with their kind before. They were lost in disturbing doubt.
