3. A guidance and mercy for those who do good.

4. Those who establish prayer, give charity, and firmly believe in the Hereafter.

5. These are guided by their Lord, and they are the ones who will succeed.

6. Yet among people are those who purchase idle talk, intending to mislead others from Allah's path without knowledge, and who ridicule it. They will have a humiliating punishment.

11. This is Allah's creation — so show Me what those besides Him have created! Rather, the wrongdoers are clearly lost.

12. We gave Luqman wisdom, saying, "Be grateful to Allah." Whoever is grateful benefits himself, and whoever refuses — Allah is Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.

13. When Luqman said to his son, while counseling him, "My dear son, never associate anything with Allah; associating others with Him is truly a great injustice."

14. We have enjoined upon man care for his parents. His mother carried him through hardship upon hardship, and his weaning takes two years. So be grateful to Me, and to your parents. To Me is the final return.

15. Yet if they strive to make you associate with Me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them. Still, treat them kindly in this world, and follow the path of those who turn sincerely to Me. Then to Me you will all return, and I will inform you of everything you used to do.

16. "My dear son, even if a deed were as tiny as a mustard seed — hidden inside a rock, or anywhere in the heavens or the earth — Allah would bring it forth. Truly, Allah is Most Subtle, All-Aware."

17. My dear son, establish prayer, encourage what is right, forbid what is wrong, and patiently endure whatever befalls you. Truly, these are matters of firm resolve.

18. Do not turn your cheek away from people, nor walk upon the earth with pride. Allah does not love anyone who is boastful and conceited.

19. Be moderate in your pace, and lower your voice — surely, the most unpleasant of voices is the voice of donkeys.

20. Do you not see how Allah has made everything in the heavens and the earth subject to you, and has generously showered you with His blessings, both visible and hidden? Yet among people are those who argue about Allah without knowledge, guidance, or an enlightening scripture.

21. When they are told, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we follow what we found our ancestors practicing." Even if Satan is calling them toward the punishment of the blazing Fire?

22. Whoever submits himself completely to Allah, and does good, has surely grasped the strongest handhold. And to Allah alone is the final outcome of all matters.

23. As for those who reject the truth, let not their disbelief grieve you. To Us is their return, and We will inform them of all they have done. Allah knows what lies within every heart.

24. We allow them brief enjoyment, then We will compel them toward a harsh punishment.

25. If you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will surely say, "Allah." Say, "All praise belongs to Allah." Yet most of them do not understand.

26. To Allah belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. Allah alone is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.

27. If all the trees on earth were pens, and the ocean — with seven more oceans replenishing it — were ink, the words of Allah would never run out. Truly, Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.

28. Creating and resurrecting all of you is as easy for Him as creating a single soul. Certainly, Allah hears and sees everything.

29. Do you not see how Allah merges the night into the day, and the day into the night, and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running its course for an appointed term, and that Allah is fully aware of all you do?

30. This is because Allah alone is the Truth, and whatever they call upon besides Him is falsehood. Allah is the Most High, the Most Great.

31. Do you not see how ships sail smoothly across the sea by Allah's grace, so He may show you some of His signs? Surely, in this are signs for everyone who is patient and deeply grateful.

32. When waves loom over them like dark clouds, they cry out to Allah, sincerely devoting their faith to Him alone. Yet when He brings them safely to shore, some are moderate. None reject Our signs except every deceitful, ungrateful person.

33. O people, be mindful of your Lord, and fear a Day when no parent can help their child, nor can a child help their parent in any way. Allah's promise is true, so do not let this worldly life deceive you, nor let the great deceiver mislead you about Allah.

34. Allah alone has knowledge of the Hour. He sends down the rain, and He knows what lies within the wombs. No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, nor does any soul know in which land it will die. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.
