In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. Alif. Lam. Meem.
2. The Romans have been defeated.
3. In the nearest land. Yet after their defeat, they will triumph.
4. Within a few years. All matters belong to Allah, before and after. On that day, the believers will rejoice.
5. In Allah's victory. He grants victory to whomever He wills, for He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful.
6. This is Allah's promise — Allah never breaks His promise, but most people do not know.
7. They know only the outward appearance of this worldly life, yet they remain heedless of the Hereafter.
8. Have they not reflected within themselves? Allah created the heavens and the earth, and everything between them, with truth, and for an appointed term. Yet many people deny the meeting with their Lord.
9. Have they not traveled through the land, and observed the fate of those who came before them? They were stronger than them, cultivated the earth, and developed it more than they have. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. Allah did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves.
10. Then the outcome for those who committed evil was the worst; because they rejected Allah's revelations, and mocked them.
11. Allah originates creation, then repeats it, and then to Him you will all return.
12. On the Day when the Hour arrives, the guilty will be struck with despair.
13. None of those they associated with Allah will intercede for them, and they will disown their partners.
14. On the Day when the Hour arrives, on that day they will be separated.
15. Those who believed and did righteous deeds, will be joyful in a lush garden.
16. But those who disbelieved, rejected Our revelations, and denied the meeting of the Hereafter — they will be brought forth into the punishment.
17. So glorify Allah when evening comes, and when morning dawns.
18. All praise belongs to Him in the heavens and the earth, in the late afternoon, and at midday.
19. He brings forth the living from the dead, and the dead from the living, and He revives the earth after its death. Likewise, you will be brought forth.
20. Among His signs, is that He created you from dust, and suddenly, you became human beings, spreading far and wide.
21. Among His signs, is that He created spouses for you from among yourselves, so you may find comfort in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. Truly, in this are signs for people who reflect.
22. Among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. Surely, in this are signs for those who have knowledge.
23. Among His signs is your sleep by night and day, and your seeking of His bounty. Truly, in this are signs for people who listen.
24. Among His signs is that He shows you lightning, causing both fear and hope, and He sends down water from the sky, reviving the earth after its death. Surely, in this are signs for people who understand.
25. Among His signs, is that the heavens and the earth stand firm by His command. Then, when He calls you with a call from the earth, you will immediately come out.
26. To Him belongs everyone in the heavens and the earth; all are obedient to Him.
27. He is the One Who originates creation, then repeats it — and it is easy for Him. To Him belongs the highest example in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
28. He gives you an example from your own lives: Do you make your dependents equal partners in the wealth We have provided you, so that you fear them as you fear one another? This is how We clearly explain the signs for people who understand.
29. Yet those who do wrong follow their own desires, without knowledge. Who then can guide those whom Allah has allowed to stray? They will have no helpers.
30. So set your face firmly toward the true faith — the natural way Allah created people upon. There is no changing Allah's creation. This is the upright religion, yet most people do not realize it.
31. Turn to Him in sincere devotion, be mindful of Him, establish prayer, and do not be among those who associate others with Him.
32. Those who divided their religion, and split into factions, each group rejoicing in what it has.
33. When hardship touches people, they cry out to their Lord, turning sincerely to Him. But as soon as He lets them taste mercy from Him, some of them immediately begin associating others with their Lord.
34. Showing ingratitude for what We have given them. So enjoy yourselves for now — you will soon come to know.
35. Or have We sent down to them any authority, that speaks in support of what they associate with Him?
36. When We let people taste mercy, they rejoice in it. But when misfortune strikes them because of what their own hands have done, they immediately fall into despair.
37. Do they not see that Allah gives abundantly to whomever He wills, and restricts it from whomever He wills? Truly, in this are signs for people who believe.
38. So give relatives their due rights, as well as the needy, and the traveler. That is best for those who seek Allah's pleasure, and it is they who will truly succeed.
39. Whatever you lend at interest, seeking to increase your wealth through people's property, will not increase with Allah. But whatever charity you give, seeking Allah's pleasure — it is they who will receive multiplied rewards.
40. Allah is the One Who created you, then provided for you, then will cause you to die, and then will bring you back to life. Can any of your so-called partners do even one of these things? Glory be to Him, exalted far above whatever they associate with Him.
41. Corruption has appeared across land and sea, because of what people's own hands have earned, so that He may let them taste some consequences of their deeds — so they may return.
42. Say, "Travel through the earth, and observe how was the end of those who came before; most of them were polytheists."
43. So set your face firmly toward the true religion, before a Day comes from Allah, that cannot be turned back. On that Day, people will be divided.
44. Whoever rejects the truth, their disbelief will be held against them; and whoever does good deeds, they are preparing for themselves.
45. So that He may reward from His bounty those who believe and do righteous deeds. Surely, He does not love the disbelievers.
46. Among His signs, is that He sends winds bearing good news, to let you taste His mercy, to make ships sail by His command, and so you may seek His bounty, and perhaps become grateful.
47. Certainly, We sent messengers before you to their peoples, and they came to them with clear proofs. Then We took vengeance upon those who committed crimes. It is ever incumbent upon Us to help the believers.
48. Allah is the One Who sends the winds, stirring up clouds, spreading them across the sky however He wills, and breaking them into fragments — then you see rain pouring from within them. When He causes it to fall upon whichever of His servants He chooses, they rejoice.
49. Though before it was sent down upon them, they were in despair.
50. So observe the effects of Allah's mercy — how He revives the earth after its death. Surely, He is the Reviver of the dead, and He has power over all things.
51. Yet if We were to send a wind, that turned their crops yellow, they would afterward persist in disbelief.
52. You cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear your call when they turn away and leave.
53. Nor can you guide the blind out of their error. You can only make those hear who believe in Our revelations, so they have submitted.
54. Allah is the One Who created you from weakness, then after weakness gave you strength, then after strength brought weakness and gray hair. He creates whatever He wills, and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful.
55. On the Day when the Hour arrives, the guilty will swear they remained no more than an hour — this is how they were always deceived.
56. But those given knowledge and faith will say, "You remained, according to Allah's decree, until the Day of Resurrection. Now this is the Day of Resurrection — but you never realized it."
57. On that Day, excuses will not benefit those who did wrong, nor will they be allowed to make amends.
58. Certainly, We have presented every kind of example for people in this Quran. Yet if you bring them any sign, those who disbelieve will surely say, "You are only spreading falsehood."
59. This is how Allah seals the hearts of those who do not understand.
60. So be patient, for Allah's promise is true. And do not let those who lack certainty shake your resolve.
