In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
1. Alif. Lam. Meem.
2. Allah — there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence.
3. He revealed to you the Book with truth, confirming what came before it, and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.
4. Previously, as guidance for mankind. And He revealed the Criterion. Certainly, those who reject Allah's revelations will suffer a severe punishment. Allah is Almighty, capable of retribution.
5. Truly, nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from Allah.
6. He is the One Who shapes you in the wombs however He wills. There is no god but Him — the Almighty, the All-Wise.
7. He is the One Who revealed to you the Book. Some of its verses are clear and precise — they are the foundation of the Book — while others are ambiguous. Those whose hearts are inclined toward deviation, follow the ambiguous verses, seeking discord, and seeking their hidden meanings. But no one knows their true interpretation except Allah. Those firmly grounded in knowledge say, "We believe in it; all of it is from our Lord." Only those with insight truly reflect.
8. Our Lord, do not let our hearts stray after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Surely, You alone are the Bestower.
9. Our Lord, You will surely gather all people on a Day, about which there is no doubt. Certainly, Allah never breaks His promise.
10. Certainly, those who disbelieve — their wealth and children will not help them at all against Allah. They are fuel for the Fire.
11. Like Pharaoh's people and those before them, they rejected Our signs, so Allah seized them for their sins. Allah is severe in punishment.
12. Say to those who disbelieve, "You will soon be defeated, and gathered into Hell — what a terrible resting place!"
13. You have already seen a clear sign in the two groups that faced each other: one fighting in Allah's cause, and the other disbelieving. They saw them as twice their own number with their very eyes. Allah strengthens with His help whomever He wills. Truly, in this is a lesson for those with insight.
14. The love of worldly desires — women, children, heaps of gold and silver, fine horses, livestock, and fertile land — has been made attractive to people. These are merely pleasures of this worldly life, but with Allah is the best destination.
15. Say, "Shall I tell you of something far better than all this? For those mindful of Allah, there are Gardens with rivers flowing beneath, where they will remain forever, pure spouses, and Allah's good pleasure. Allah sees His servants.
16. Those who say, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive our sins, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'
17. Those who are patient, truthful, devout, charitable, and seek forgiveness before dawn."
18. Allah Himself bears witness that there is no god but Him, as do the angels, and those endowed with knowledge — upholding justice. There is no god but Him, the Almighty, the All-Wise.
19. Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture differed only after knowledge had come to them, out of rivalry among themselves. Whoever rejects Allah's revelations — Allah is swift in reckoning.
20. If they argue with you, say, "I have submitted myself completely to Allah, as have those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture, and to the unlettered, "Have you submitted yourselves?" If they submit, they are rightly guided. But if they turn away, your duty is only to deliver the message. Allah sees His servants.
21. Certainly, those who reject Allah's revelations, unjustly kill the prophets, and kill those among the people who call for justice — announce to them a painful punishment.
22. They are the ones whose deeds have come to nothing in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.
23. Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture? When they are invited to Allah's Book to judge between them, a group of them turns away, stubbornly refusing.
24. This is because they say, "The Fire will only touch us for a few days." Their own fabrications have deceived them in their religion.
25. But how will it be, when We gather them on a Day, about which there is no doubt, when every soul will be repaid in full for what it has earned, and none will be wronged?
26. Say, "O Allah, Master of all sovereignty! You grant authority to whomever You will, and You take it away from whomever You will. You honor whomever You will, and You humble whomever You will. All goodness is in Your Hand. Truly, You have power over everything.
27. You merge the night into the day, and You merge the day into the night. You bring forth the living from the dead, and You bring forth the dead from the living. And You provide without measure, to whomever You will."
28. Believers should not take disbelievers as allies, instead of believers. Whoever does so has nothing to do with Allah — unless you do so cautiously, to guard yourselves against them. Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the final return.
29. Say, "Whether you conceal what is in your hearts, or reveal it, Allah knows it. He knows all that is in the heavens, and all that is on the earth. Allah has power over everything."
30. On the Day when every soul will find all the good it has done present before it, and all the evil it has done — it will wish there were a great distance separating it from that evil. Allah warns you of Himself, yet Allah is ever kind to His servants.
31. Say, "If you truly love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you, and forgive your sins. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful."
32. Say, "Obey Allah and the Messenger." But if they turn away, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.
33. Allah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran above all people.
34. Descendants, one from another. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
35. Remember when Imran's wife said, "My Lord, I dedicate entirely to You what is in my womb, so accept this from me. Truly, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing."
36. When she gave birth, she said, "My Lord, I have given birth to a girl" — and Allah knew best what she had delivered — "and the male is not like the female. I have named her Mary, and I seek Your protection for her, and her offspring, from Satan, the outcast."
37. So her Lord graciously accepted her, and caused her to grow beautifully, entrusting her to the care of Zachariah. Whenever Zachariah entered her sanctuary, he found provisions with her. He asked, "Mary, where did this come from?" She replied, "It is from Allah; Allah provides without measure for whomever He wills."
38. Right then, Zachariah prayed to his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself pure offspring. Truly, You hear all prayers."
39. Then the angels called out to him, as he stood praying in the sanctuary, "Allah gives you good news of John, who will confirm a Word from Allah, noble, chaste, and a prophet among the righteous."
40. He said, "My Lord, how can I have a son, when old age has overtaken me, and my wife is barren?" Allah replied, "So it will be; Allah does whatever He wills."
41. Zachariah said, "My Lord, grant me a sign." Allah said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three days, except through gestures. Remember your Lord often, and glorify Him morning and evening."
42. And remember when the angels said, "Mary, Allah has chosen you, purified you, and favored you above all women of the world."
43. "Mary, be devoted to your Lord, bow down, and kneel among those who kneel."
44. This is news of the unseen, that We reveal to you. You were not with them when they cast their pens, to decide who would care for Mary, nor were you there when they argued.
45. When the angels said, "Mary, Allah gives you good news of a Word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary — honored in this world and the Hereafter, and among those brought near to Allah."
46. "He will speak to people from the cradle and in maturity, and he will be among the righteous."
47. She said, "My Lord, how can I have a child, when no man has touched me?" He said, "So it will be — Allah creates whatever He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is."
48. And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel.
49. And He will make him a messenger to the Children of Israel, saying, "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I will shape for you from clay the form of a bird, then breathe into it, and it will become a living bird, by Allah's permission. I will heal the blind and the leper, and bring the dead back to life, by Allah's permission. And I will inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your homes. Surely, in this is a sign for you, if you truly believe."
50. "And I have come confirming what came before me of the Torah, and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. I have brought you a sign from your Lord, so be mindful of Allah, and obey me."
51. "Truly, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him alone. This is the straight path."
52. When Jesus sensed disbelief among them, he said, "Who will be my helpers in Allah's cause?" The disciples replied, "We are Allah's helpers. We believe in Allah, so bear witness that we submit to Him."
53. "Our Lord, we believe in what You have revealed, and we follow the messenger, so count us among those who bear witness."
54. They plotted, and Allah plotted as well — and Allah is the best of planners.
55. Allah said, "O Jesus, I will complete your life, and raise you up to Me, and purify you from those who disbelieve; and I will place those who follow you above those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me you will all return, and I will judge between you regarding your disputes."
56. As for those who disbelieve, I will punish them severely in this world, and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.
57. But as for those who believe and do righteous deeds, He will give them their rewards in full. Allah does not love the wrongdoers.
58. These are the verses and the wise reminder that We recite to you.
59. Truly, the example of Jesus before Allah, is like that of Adam: He created him from dust, then said to him, "Be," and he was.
60. This is the truth from your Lord, so do not be among those who doubt.
61. If anyone argues with you about him after the knowledge that has come to you, say, "Come, let us call our children and your children, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves; then let us pray earnestly, and invoke Allah's curse upon the liars."
62. Certainly, this is the true account. There is no god except Allah, and surely Allah is the Almighty, the Wise.
63. If they turn away, then surely Allah knows well those who spread corruption.
64. Say, "People of the Scripture, come to a common word between us and you: that we worship none but Allah, associate nothing with Him, and that none of us takes others as lords besides Allah." If they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we have submitted to Him."
65. People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were only revealed after him? Do you not reason?
66. Here you are, arguing about things you have some knowledge of — but why do you argue about things you know nothing about? Allah knows, and you do not.
67. Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian; rather, he was devoted purely to Allah, submitting to Him alone, and he was never among those who associate others with Allah.
68. Surely, the people closest to Abraham are those who followed him, this Prophet, and those who believe. Allah is the Protector of the believers.
69. A group among the People of the Scripture wishes they could lead you astray — but they mislead no one except themselves, though they do not realize it.
70. People of the Scripture, why do you reject Allah's revelations, even as you yourselves bear witness?
71. People of the Scripture, why do you mix truth with falsehood, and knowingly conceal the truth?
72. A group among the People of the Scripture said, "Believe in what was revealed to the believers at the start of the day, then reject it by day's end, so they may turn back."
73. "And trust no one, except those who follow your religion." Say, "True guidance is Allah's guidance. Are you worried that someone else might receive revelation similar to what you received, or that they might argue against you before your Lord?" Say, "All grace is in Allah's Hand; He grants it to whomever He wills. Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing."
74. He chooses for His mercy whomever He wills. Allah is the Lord of immense grace.
75. Among the People of the Book, are some who, if you entrust them with a fortune, will faithfully return it to you; yet among them are others who, if you entrust them with a single coin, will not return it unless you constantly demand it. This is because they say, "We have no obligation toward the unlettered people," knowingly attributing lies to Allah.
76. But whoever fulfills his promise, and remains mindful of Allah — Allah truly loves those who are mindful of Him.
77. Those who trade away Allah's covenant, and their own oaths, for a small price, will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them, nor look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them. They will suffer a painful punishment.
78. Indeed, among them is a group who twist their tongues when reciting the Scripture, so you may think it is from the Scripture, when it is not. They say, "This is from Allah," though it is not from Allah, knowingly attributing lies to Allah.
79. It is not possible for any human being, whom Allah has given the Scripture, wisdom, and prophethood, to then say to people, "Worship me instead of Allah." Rather, he would say, "Be devoted servants of the Lord, as you have taught the Scripture, and studied it."
80. Nor would he command you to take angels and prophets as lords. Would he command you to disbelief after you have submitted yourselves to Allah?
81. Remember when Allah took a covenant from the prophets, saying, "After I have given you the Scripture and wisdom, if a messenger comes to you confirming what you have, you must believe in him and, support him." He asked, "Do you affirm this and accept My solemn covenant?" They replied, "We affirm it." He said, "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."
82. Whoever turns away after this — they are truly the rebellious.
83. Do they seek a religion other than Allah's, when all in the heavens and the earth submit willingly or unwillingly to Him, and to Him they will all return?
84. Say, "We believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in what was given to Moses, Jesus, and the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit."
85. Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter, he will be among the losers.
86. How could Allah guide people who deny after having believed, after testifying that the Messenger is true, and after clear proofs have come to them? Allah does not guide unjust people.
87. Their recompense is that the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people is upon them.
88. Remaining in it forever. Their punishment will not be lightened, nor will they be granted respite.
89. Except those who afterward repent and mend their ways, for Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
90. Those who disbelieve after having believed, and then grow deeper in disbelief — their repentance will never be accepted. They are the ones who have gone astray.
91. Those who disbelieve, and die as disbelievers — even if one of them offered the earth full of gold as ransom, it would never be accepted. They will have a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers.
92. You will never attain righteousness, until you spend from what you love. Whatever you spend, Allah surely knows it.
93. All food was lawful for the Children of Israel, except what Israel had forbidden for himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, "Bring the Torah and read it, if you are truthful."
94. Whoever invents lies about Allah after this — they are truly the unjust.
95. Say, "Allah has spoken the truth. So follow the faith of Abraham, devoted purely to Allah. He was not of the polytheists."
96. Certainly, the first House established for humankind, is the one at Bakkah — blessed, and a guidance for all people.
97. In it are clear signs: the Station of Abraham. Whoever enters it finds safety. Pilgrimage to the House is a duty owed to Allah, by all who are able to undertake the journey. But whoever disbelieves — Allah has no need of anyone in all creation.
98. Say, "People of the Scripture, why do you reject Allah's revelations, when Allah Himself witnesses all that you do?"
99. Say, "People of the Scripture, why do you turn believers away from Allah's path, seeking to make it crooked, even though you yourselves bear witness? Allah is never unaware of what you do."
100. Believers, if you obey some among those who received the Scripture, they will turn you back into disbelievers after you have believed.
101. How could you disbelieve when Allah's revelations are recited to you, and His Messenger is among you? Whoever holds firmly to Allah, has surely been guided to a straight path.
102. Believers, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except in a state of submission to Him.
103. Hold firmly, all together, to the rope of Allah, and do not become divided. Remember Allah's favor upon you — when you were enemies, He united your hearts, and by His grace you became brothers. You were on the brink of a pit of fire, and He saved you from it. This is how Allah makes His revelations clear to you, so that you may be guided.
104. Let there be among you a community calling to goodness, encouraging what is right, and forbidding what is wrong. These are the ones who will succeed.
105. Do not be like those who became divided and disagreed after clear proofs had come to them. For them is a tremendous punishment.
106. On the Day when some faces will shine brightly, and others will be darkened. As for those whose faces are darkened: "Did you reject faith after having believed? Then taste the punishment for your disbelief."
107. But as for those whose faces shine brightly, they will dwell forever in Allah's mercy.
108. These are Allah's revelations, which We recite to you in truth. Allah desires no injustice for any of His creation.
109. To Allah belongs everything in the heavens, and everything on earth, and to Allah all matters will return.
110. You are the best community ever raised for humankind: you encourage what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in Allah. Had the People of the Scripture believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most are defiantly disobedient.
111. They can never harm you, beyond mere annoyance. If they fight you, they will turn their backs and flee, and afterward, they will have no help.
112. Humiliation has been stamped upon them wherever they are found, except through a rope from Allah and a rope from people. They have earned Allah's wrath, and misery has been stamped upon them. This is because they rejected Allah's revelations, and unjustly killed the prophets. This is because they disobeyed, and persistently transgressed.
113. Yet they are not all alike. Among the People of the Scripture, is an upright community, who recite Allah's revelations throughout the night, prostrating in worship.
114. They believe in Allah and the Last Day, encourage what is right, forbid what is wrong, and eagerly strive to do good. These are among the righteous.
115. Whatever good they do, will never go unappreciated. Allah fully knows those who are mindful of Him.
116. As for those who disbelieve, neither their wealth nor their children will help them at all against Allah. They are the companions of the Fire, remaining there forever.
117. The example of what they spend in this worldly life, is like a freezing wind, that strikes the crops of people who wronged themselves, so it destroyed it. Allah did not wrong them; rather, they wronged themselves.
118. Believers, do not take outsiders as your intimate confidants, for they will spare no effort to harm you. They wish to see you suffer. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their hearts conceal is far worse. We have made the signs clear to you, if only you would understand.
119. Here you are, loving them, while they do not love you, and you believe in the entire Scripture. When they meet you, they say, "We believe," but when alone, they bite their fingertips in fury against you. Say, "Die in your rage!" Allah knows what lies within hearts.
120. If something good touches you, it grieves them, but if misfortune strikes you, they rejoice. Yet if you remain patient and mindful of Allah, their schemes will never harm you in the least. Allah fully encompasses all that they do.
121. Remember when you left your family early in the morning, positioning the believers at their battle stations — and Allah hears and knows everything.
122. When two groups among you nearly lost heart, Allah was their protector. So let the believers put their trust in Allah alone.
123. Certainly, Allah helped you at Badr, when you were lowly. So be mindful of Allah, that you may be grateful.
124. Remember when you said to the believers, "Isn't it enough for you, that your Lord will reinforce you with three thousand angels, sent down?"
125. Yes — if you remain patient and mindful of Allah, and they suddenly attack you, your Lord will support you with five thousand angels, clearly marked.
126. Allah made this only as good news for you, and to reassure your hearts. Victory comes only from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise.
127. So that He may cut off a part of those who disbelieve, or overwhelm them, causing them to retreat in failure.
128. You have no say in the matter — whether He accepts their repentance or punishes them — for they are wrongdoers.
129. To Allah belongs everything in the heavens, and everything on earth. He forgives whomever He wills, and punishes whomever He wills. Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
130. Believers, do not consume usury, doubled and redoubled. Be mindful of Allah, so that you may prosper.
131. Guard yourselves against the Fire prepared for those who deny the truth.
132. Obey Allah and the Messenger, so that you may receive mercy.
133. Rush toward forgiveness from your Lord, and a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who are mindful of Allah.
134. Those who give generously in times of ease and hardship, who restrain their anger, and pardon people — for Allah loves those who do good.
135. And those who, when they commit a shameful deed or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins — for who forgives sins except Allah? — and do not knowingly persist in what they have done.
136. Their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will remain forever. How excellent is the reward for those who strive!
137. Many ways of life have passed away before you; travel through the land, and see how those who rejected the truth ended up.
138. This is a clear message for all people, and guidance and counsel for those mindful of Allah.
139. Do not lose heart or grieve — you will have the upper hand, if you truly believe.
140. If you have suffered harm, others have suffered similar harm before you. Such days We alternate among people, so that Allah may reveal those who truly believe, and choose martyrs from among you. Allah does not love those who do wrong.
141. And so that Allah may purify the believers, and eliminate the unbelievers.
142. Did you think you would enter Paradise, without Allah making known those among you who strive, and those who patiently endure?
143. You used to wish for death before you faced it; now you have seen it with your own eyes.
144. Muhammad is only a messenger; messengers before him have passed away. If he were to die or be killed, would you turn back on your heels? Whoever turns back will not harm Allah in the least, and Allah will reward those who are grateful.
145. No soul can die except by Allah's permission, at a predetermined time. Whoever desires the reward of this world, We will grant him some of it; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will grant him some of it. And We will surely reward those who are grateful.
146. How many a prophet there was, with whom many godly men fought? They never lost heart despite what befell them in Allah's cause, nor weakened, nor surrendered. Allah loves those who persevere.
147. Their only words were, "Our Lord, forgive our sins and our excesses in our affairs, steady our feet, and grant us victory over the unbelieving people."
148. So Allah gave them the reward of this world, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. Allah loves those who do good.
149. Believers, if you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will become losers.
150. Rather, Allah is your Protector, and He is the best of helpers.
151. We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they associate partners with Allah — something for which He has sent down no authority. Their refuge will be the Fire — what a miserable home for the wrongdoers!
152. Allah fulfilled His promise to you, when, by His permission, you were defeating them — until you faltered, argued about the command, and disobeyed after He had shown you what you loved. Among you were some who desired this world, and some who desired the Hereafter. Then He turned you away from them, to test you. Yet He has pardoned you, for Allah is gracious to the believers.
153. Remember when you fled uphill, without turning to look at anyone, while the Messenger was calling you from behind you. So He repaid you with sorrow upon sorrow, so that you would neither grieve over what you missed, nor over what befell you. Allah is fully aware of all that you do.
154. Then, after the distress, He sent down upon you a sense of security — a gentle sleep overcoming some of you, while another group was anxious only about themselves, thinking about Allah thoughts that were not true, thoughts of the Age of Ignorance. They said, "Do we have any say in this matter?" Say, "All matters belong entirely to Allah." They conceal within themselves what they do not reveal to you, saying, "If we had any say in this matter, we would not have been killed here." Say, "Even if you had stayed in your homes, those destined to be killed, would have gone forth to their appointed places of death." Allah did this to test what is in your hearts, and to purify what is within you. Allah knows well what lies hidden in the hearts.
155. Certainly, those among you who turned away on the day the two armies met — it was Satan who caused them to slip, because of some of their own deeds. Yet Allah has pardoned them, for Allah is truly Forgiving, Forbearing.
156. O you who believe, do not be like those who disbelieve, and say about their brothers, who travel through the land, or go out to fight, "If they had stayed with us, they would not have died or been killed." So that Allah may make that a regret in their hearts. It is Allah Who gives life and causes death, and Allah sees clearly all that you do.
157. And if you are killed or die in Allah's cause, forgiveness and mercy from Allah are far better than all they could ever gather.
158. And whether you die or are killed, surely to Allah you will all be gathered.
159. It is by Allah's mercy that you were gentle with them. Had you been harsh or hard-hearted, they would have scattered away from you. So pardon them, ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the matter. Then, when you have made your decision, place your trust in Allah. Truly, Allah loves those who trust in Him.
160. If Allah helps you, none can overcome you. But if He forsakes you, who else could possibly help you after Him? So let the believers place their trust in Allah.
161. It is not fitting for any prophet to act dishonestly. Whoever acts dishonestly, will bring what he took dishonestly on the Day of Resurrection. Then every soul will be repaid fully for what it earned, and none will be wronged.
162. Can someone who seeks Allah's pleasure, be compared to one who earns Allah's wrath, and whose home is Hell? What a miserable destination!
163. They have different ranks with Allah, and Allah sees clearly all that they do.
164. Allah has truly favored the believers, by sending them a Messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His verses, purifying them, and teaching them the Scripture and wisdom — though before this, they were clearly lost in error.
165. Why is it that when a disaster struck you — though you had inflicted twice as much — you said, "How could this happen?" Say, "It is from your own selves." Surely, Allah has power over all things.
166. What befell you on the day the two armies met, was by Allah's permission, so that He might know the believers.
167. And so that He might know the hypocrites. When it was said to them, "Come, fight in Allah's cause, or at least defend yourselves," they replied, "If we knew there would be fighting, we would surely have followed you." On that day, they were closer to disbelief than belief, saying with their mouths what was not in their hearts. Allah knows best what they conceal.
168. Those who stayed behind said about their brothers, "If only they had listened to us, they would not have been killed." Say, "Then keep death away from yourselves, if you are truthful."
169. Never think of those killed in Allah's cause as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.
170. Rejoicing in what Allah has generously given them, and delighted for those who have yet to join them, knowing they will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
171. They celebrate the blessings and grace from Allah, and that Allah does not waste the reward of the believers.
172. Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger after suffering injury — for those among them who did good and remained mindful of Allah, there is a great reward.
173. Those to whom people said, "The people have gathered against you, so fear them!" — but it only increased their faith, and they said, "Allah is enough for us, and He is the best protector."
174. So they returned with blessings and grace from Allah, untouched by harm, and they pursued Allah's approval. Allah is the possessor of immense grace.
175. It is only Satan who frightens you through his allies. So do not fear them, but fear Me, if you truly believe.
176. Do not let those who rush eagerly into disbelief grieve you. They cannot harm Allah in the least. Allah intends to grant them no share in the Hereafter, and they will have a tremendous punishment.
177. Those who trade belief for disbelief, cannot harm Allah at all, and they will suffer a painful punishment.
178. Let not those who disbelieve imagine that Our granting them time, is good for them. We only grant them time, so they may increase in sinfulness, and theirs will be a humiliating punishment.
179. Allah would never leave the believers in the state you are in, until He separates the evil from the good. Nor would Allah reveal to you the unseen, but Allah chooses from His messengers whom He wills. So believe in Allah and His messengers. If you believe and remain mindful of Allah, you will have a great reward.
180. And let not those who greedily withhold what Allah has generously given them, think it is good for them. Rather, it is harmful for them. On the Day of Resurrection, they will be encircled by what they withheld. To Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is fully aware of all that you do.
181. Allah has certainly heard the words of those who said, "Allah is poor, and we are rich." We will record what they said, and their unjust killing of the prophets, and We will say, "Taste the torment of the burning Fire!"
182. This is because of what your own hands have done — Allah is never unjust to His servants.
183. Those who said, "Allah has commanded us not to believe in any messenger, unless he brings us an offering consumed by fire." Say, "Messengers before me came to you with clear proofs, and even with what you demanded — so why did you kill them, if you are truthful?"
184. If they reject you, messengers before you were also rejected, though they brought clear proofs, divine scriptures, and the illuminating Book.
185. Every soul will taste death, and you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is spared from the Fire, and admitted into Paradise, has truly succeeded. The life of this world is nothing but a deceptive enjoyment.
186. You will surely be tested in your possessions and yourselves . And you will surely hear many hurtful words from those who received the Scripture before you, and from those who associate others with Allah. But if you remain patient and mindful of Allah, that is certainly a matter of firm resolve.
187. Remember when Allah took a pledge from those who received the Scripture: "You must clearly explain it to the people, and never conceal it." Yet they cast it behind their backs, and traded it away for a small price. How terrible is what they purchased!
188. Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have done, and love to be praised for things they have not done — do not think they will escape punishment. They will have a painful torment.
189. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has power over all things.
190. Certainly, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for people of understanding.
191. Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and who reflect deeply upon the creation of the heavens and the earth, saying, "Our Lord, You have not created all this without purpose. Glory be to You! Protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
192. Our Lord, whoever You admit into the Fire, You have truly disgraced; and the wrongdoers will have no helpers.
193. Our Lord, we have heard a caller inviting us to faith, saying, 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, forgive our sins, erase our misdeeds, and let us die among the righteous.
194. Our Lord, grant us what You have promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Surely, You never break Your promise."
195. So their Lord answered them, "I will never let the deeds of any of you — male or female — go to waste; you are from one another. Those who emigrated, were driven from their homes, suffered harm in My cause, fought, and were killed — I will surely erase their misdeeds, and admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, as a reward from Allah. And Allah holds the finest reward."
196. Do not let the frequent travel of those who disbelieve throughout the land deceive you.
197. It is only a brief enjoyment; then their home will be Hell — what a miserable resting place!
198. But those who are mindful of their Lord, will have Gardens beneath which rivers flow, remaining there forever — as a hospitality from Allah. And what Allah has is best for the righteous.
199. Certainly, among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah, in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed to them. They humble themselves before Allah, and do not trade Allah's revelations for a small price. They will have their reward with their Lord. Truly, Allah is swift in reckoning.
200. O you who believe, be patient, persevere, stand firm, and remain mindful of Allah, so that you may succeed.
